What is your most feared Unique Unit?

I'll never forget an early game on a Pan where the German panzers just chewed through the rest of the world in a couple of turns. I held them with lots of artillery and infantry but lost to a domination.

Taught me to take out Germany long before tanks. Panzers are awesome.

As some people have noticed, some UU stats in C3C are different from the PTW ones.

Best regards,

Slawomir Stachniewicz.

If I get Persia as a neighbour, I will do whatever I can to deny them iron. If that doesn't help, I'll try to wipe them out before they can build up large amount of troops. That worked well last time. Persia was the only civ on the continent with iron, and I made a war very early - even got a horseman army!

Without a doubt for me is the Indian elephant. Beserkers are second because they attack from the sea and (as per the AI) attack without warning. One minute you're watching the AI's galleys scout. The next Beserkers have redlined your best troops.

referencing The Cold War Deluxe (TCW), the scenario w/ almost 300 UU's

the Tu-95 Bear long-range soviet bomber. they show up in force when you least expect it.

also, the B-52 long-range american bombers are devastating if a good anti-air defense isn't set up.

My rational fear is the samurai. No regular early-medieval unit is better in attack, defense or movement. They are like the legionary of their era, only with 2 movement points, so they don't let your knights retreat! Kerazy.

My irrational fear is the berserk. I've never actually been attacked by one, but the mere thought of an attack 6 unit arriving on my undefended coasts is truly terrifying.

Taking the question literally the unit that creates the most "fear" in me is the Gallic Swordsman. When I see that unit I know I am in trouble because of the power of the attack and the movement.

I have had similar feelings about the Panzer but these days I am usually in control of the game by the time we reach that era.

Bezerker is up there too.

IMO, the most annoying units is the Bezerker. The second annoying unit is the Chinese Raider. Panzer is really a sheep in wolf skin...it's really harmless. The doom stack of Panzers is really no match against the barricades and a stack of artillery on rails.;)

No - it's "2" for normal games.

I think hes meaning long bowmen?

Up until recently, I didn't really have one....then I ran up against Swiss Mercs fortified behind cities protected by the great wall.....Trebs wouldn't touch them....for twenty turns (MA)...basically had to wait until Metallurgy made the great wall obsolete and I had cannons.

Better watch out for French Musketeers when attacking with Knight based units. That extra defense would really mess up our plans for world domination if not planned correctly. I once fought them playing as Arabia, large map Pangaea, but I might been lucky that I had Ansar Warrior Armies to take out French Saltpeters.

I thought musketeers had 4 defense just like regular musketmen

don't they have an extra attack?

Aaaaargh, now I'm reminded of my wholly unexpected GOTM41 nemesis, the Conquistador! Darned things have 6 movement anywhere, anytime, so cities 5 squares away from the border aren't even safe if undefended (as I found out).

Ah, yes I forgot about them! They're almost as annoying as the Berserks. But at least my usual 'tactic' of leaving backline cities undefended works well against them (if inadvertently) -- since they're so weak on the attack, they'll ignore musket-defended cities if there's an empty one another turn away, and they can then be picked off quite easily.

I do tend to lose my fair share of workers to them, though. "That worker was in range? I thought it was seven tiles!" *counts* "Dangit."

Thanks Stachnie. Corrections to stats and notes made.

One more: In PTW and vanilla the Keshik was fast over mountains only, *not* hills. Not very logical, eh?
