No love for PerfectWorld? I love that map script, its basically an upgraded Tectonics!
Yes! But boy does it make some hard to play maps! :(

But that's the reason its fun! No map is ever the same :D

I've tried PerfectWorld, and it just did not feel right. Too few resources. Having to plop down cities here and there without any resources in the BFC just seems...wrong.

Otherwise, I'd play it. The simulated elevation effects are great.

idk about that, I'm playing a PerfectWorld map right now and it seems to have a normal level of resources (the amount you would see from any other map type). I mean I have a city in the game which within its BFC has iron, wheat, and sheep, plus its situated on a river with lots of plains hills surrounding.

I tried Tectonics few times and is completely puzzled by how little land it generates at 70% water !
So little I had capitols BFC one tile apart on Regular and Large maps.
I swear i see more dry land when use planet_generator or terra with 70% water
Had to switch to 60%...

Is it just my (faulty) impression ?

I'm a fan of continents + low sea level. I think it increases the chances of galley-crossings between continents, so increases the variety in maps. I tend to jam in an extra 3-4 civs on a standard sized map to try to balance the increase in land mass you get with low seas, to preserve the early rush opportunities.

Earth. I like the realistic feel it gives and if you combine it with 18 civ scenario, that makes it even better.

i like terra maps. all the civs start out on the same landmass and you can settle others later on. no unknown civs until the 15th century or so. And you can take a few barbarian cities.:):king:

I started with terras in vanilla. This can still be done in BTS/Warlords by turning off vassal states/espionage/random events but you do get more leader choices. Nowadays I usually try fractal or random.

It'll happen, but that seems unlucky (err that is if you don't want that, normalized nice capital location close for your second town!). You gotta remember that fractal will do that stuff to, game just posted with 3 BFC's within like 10 tiles of each other on the boards.

Yes, it does that sometimes. I thnk it's a bug...it's weird when each civ has space on the map for an average of 1.5 cities, including their capital (no exaggeration).

Apart from that, even when it works the Tectonics script gives nothing but plains which really kills the AIs.

Anyway, I only play unpredictable, chaotic maps. That means 90% fractal, with occasional Big & Small or Global Highlands. Every once in a while I'll do something else, but Fractal is the best because it's the least predictable.
