What kind of feminist are you?

The US followed the same basic common law and so similarly required an act of a State Legislature to approve a divorce until around the same time, give or take a few years depending on the state.

That does not change the fact that divorces where the man was given sole custody of the children and the mother could not even visit were a very big deal circa 1890.

The father was also the one to keep the children after a divorce in pre-Christian antiquity, when divorce was easier and more common than it is today.

But when divorce is generally restricted to a class of people who don't usually look after their own children anyway it doesn't say much about attitudes in wider society.

Of course it does, the ruling class shapes society. This attitude prevailed until women fought to change it to give them more parental rights in the 1800s. That's the only reason custody automatically goes to women now.

The attitude never changed.
Something like half of UK divorce cases are settled by mutual agreement.
In almost all those cases the result is joint custody with the child living with the mother.
Even in disputed cases the argument is more likely to be about access than the father wanting to take care of the child full time. Most men just aren't up for that.

A few questions were sort of weird in that the answer seemed really dependent on currently constructed reality/existence/political system/whatever, even though they were clearly sort of broad hypothetical questions.

I see I have not been clear. If cardgame doesn’t understand me that’s pretty ultimate. I will return.

Well I might just need to re-read your discussion after a healthy sleep. Been glued to the police brutality protests and it's wearing me out. Don't have too much faith in me haha
