There is something funny about someone who claims to disavow corporate ownership trusts these two sources the most. Are there any better examples of brutal, competitive capitalism maximizing their profit than AOL-Time Warner, GE, and especially MICROSOFT? :p

You can't trust any of them 100%. It's often best to read two conflicting papers and decide for yourself.

I know it is rather ironic, however I end up getting most of my information from them simly because of a house subscription to TIME (not my choice, mind you), not necessarily trusting them :p.

True, but they have nothing to do with where I get my news. :p

I don't think the media shoud be unbiased but they should be clear about what their biases are. You learn so much more when someone is writing from a point of view, it gives you hints of how people formed the ideas they believe. I usually try to triangulate between everybody's propaganda. Also I read the Economist and listen to the BBC world service and Minnesota Public Radio.

Among thinking Americans of all political persuasions there seems to be an attraction to the British media. Questions of ideology aside, much of the mainstream media in the US simply aren't that good at their jobs. The few times I witnessed events that were covered in the newspaper, or was interviewed; I was later astounded by what I read.

I vote the BBC for recent news, they seem to be stringent about thier objectivity.

www.Slate.com is also owned by Microsoft and still it is not too bad for an online magazine.
