I have ViewSonic VX2025wm (1680 x 1050) on my better comp and some 17" Acer LCD(1280 x 1024) on the other.

Gorgeous monitor, but like polo mints, you have to wonder what they do with the bit in the middle.

1600x1200 on the main monitor, 1680x1050 on secondary.

Samsung 204T & Viewsonic VX2035m

Is it just me, or does it say HDTV or something like that on the bottom left? Because 1024x768 is not HDTV.

Bottom left says HDMI, bottom right says HDTV. It does up to 1080i HDTV (like I said, old and cheap!), but hooked up to my PC anything over 1024x768 doesn't look as clear. AFAIK, it's different getting an over the air 720p signal, which looks great, than hooking up the PC and running it at 1280x720, which doesn't look as great. I don't know why that is. Everything still looks fantastic at 1024x768 though, playing Civ 4 or COD4 on it (or GT4 on my PS2 in 1080i) looks pretty sweet.

What is HDTV resolution? Isn't that kind of redundant when talking about computer resolutions? I was under the impression that 720p (or 720 vertical lines of resolution in progressive scan, usually at 1280x720) and above is technically "HD." (So 768 would also qualify as "HD..." but this stuff always confuses me.)

(Thank Goodness for Firefox's resize window exentions. So I can edit my signature that meets the Mod's satisfaction!)

I think your impression is technically correct. It's just that HD most often refers to Full HD these days so people assume that HD is only 1920 x 1080 or more.

1680 x 1050 on my main VA2226w, 1184x960 on another old CRT. 1024x768 on my laptop and two other monitors ( they're mainly used for console based OS's, so no need for a huge monitor )

1400*1050 main 1280*1024 secondary, both Acers.

Dang it! If a mod comes through here, could this option be added?

and these: 1344 x 840, 1360 x 768, 1344 x 1008

I'm beginning to think you should have made general ranges (1601-2100X1001-1200, for instance) instead of individual sizes.

Okay, I just bought BenQ FP222WH (22", 1680 x 1050) so that's on my #1 comp and that 20" ViewSonic got reassigned to my #2 comp.

BTW I'm just wondering: How do you hook up a computer monitor to a game console, and how do you hook up a TV to a computer? Is there any way I can get my Xbox 360 to display on a computer monitor?

I think if your console has an HDMI out you can buy an HDMi to DVI cable. If you have an older console though, you would need to have composite input on your monitor, which is usually only found in higher end models.

Its not the monitor that matters when talking about resolution that you can run, its your video card.

As for the 360, I think It will use its own resolution (720p or 1080p, I dont remember..)
