What % of bad/good Random Events are you getting?

In my last game I got forge on fire, few mine collapses, few tornadoes and road washouts, then one about dustbowl on my plain (I had to pay for it to stop)... Anyway I'd say 3:1 bad to good ratio.
But their effects don't even begin to compare with good events. I got an artist making statues of ice in my north-est, tundra city, and could choose either 500(?) culture or pay gold and get a Great Artist settled in city. I did later and it helped me immensely since city was in tundra and I built it only to keep borders of my neighbor away. Artist was what I really needed. Then I fot artist in my capitol bursting culture (And if I had Radio tech I could give him contract for even better benefit...) Then I got resource pooping out, two peace events, partisans healing my unit...

This is sounding more like my games so far so I guess it's pretty common place.
Also I just finished with a Prince level game and lost but I got to see some different RE's throughout except for losing mines and the common deer/parrots ones.

I've just got a free event that promotes all my Axeman to Shock. Now this is normally not that useful, but it just happens that in this game, I was already on my way to prepare for an Axe rush. What really made the day, was my target was still defending with just warriors!

So my little stack of five CRI+Shock Axeman had their fun attacking 60% cultural defense capital at 99% odds. :D

Some military good events like these can really change everything if it happens to match up with what you're planning.

And my Combat I Shock Axeman will again do their miracles by holding back another AI's vanilla Axes and Swords that's already appearing at my border. Actually, I don't think they'll attack now that I've taken over some more territory, and leads the power graph by a margin. I think I'll have peace until at least after Maces come out.

But I'll remember to build an army of Axes to upgrade so they all keep their free Shock promotion. :D

All the random events in a game will show up in the playback at the end of the game, so you can check. They seem well balanced between the civilizations.

The barbarian horde random event can kill you if you haven't found copper or iron in time, or haven't had a chance to get a lot of defensive units in place. Of course, it's pleasant if you have Great Wall.

Is there a way to show the in game log of events and all other happenings after it has scrolled by? I have found a few times where things were moving to fast and the screen just moved out of my sight before I could see all of them.

CTRL+TAB will bring up the game log. There you can switch to see your chat log, combat log, quest log as well.

Running more workers does not work...

Then you have extra workers for nothing and have to delete them later.

So whats the point of making something which is just a waste?

Like the book and game tell you don't make 50 if 15 will do...

Yeah, but you are making 7-10 when 15 will do.
What does book say about that? :)

call me naive but uh why not make a list of all events............ would be kinda cool what could happen when crtain things are done.

plenty of bad ones, its pretty annoying, i never got any horrible ones though, and the good ones where usualy pretty good.

There is actually already a list of random events on this forum. Search a little and you'll find it.

Things have been fairly balanced. The bad events are usually temporary, while the good ones usuallly affect the whole game. The only long term events affects are when the events cause relationship changes. Poor Memhed had war declared on him twice in one game by Isabella for cross religion marriages...She seems to dislike those of a different religion far more these days. :)

Some days it just seems like you run into some bad luck. In my last game, my only copper mine collapsed 3 different times. You'd figure that all the money I pumped into it to keep it open would have improved something. ;)

It's been done. Go here.

Sorry about the multiple post here but I have not figured out how to add one segment for each question to one reply yet.

I see other doing it, so if someone has some instructions here that would be great.

Thanks for the replies too.

There's a Multi button next to the Quote button. When you click multi it's highlighted and enabled. Highlight "multi" on every response you want to reply to, then click Quote.

Argument from those who like Random Events:

I got lucky, and managed to conquer the world as a result. Free Promotions, Great People, and Expanding Borders oh my!

Argument from those who dislike Random Events:

I refuse to change my strategy to fit Random Events into my game-play style. Why should I make more than 10 workers?

You forgot that for the dislikers, they have the option of turning it off in "options" too. I guess you have had a run of good luck then with your games so far?
