It's nice, but nothing spectacular.
- The spreading lights on the globe according to the settling sites of great civilizations are a fine idea.
- The music is great.
- The battle scene and the ships look very good.
- Having arrows "guide" the camera is a great idea for the transitions between the battle scenes.
Several other things are a little strange however:
- The intro has no overarching theme. First we see lights symbolizing the spread of civilization across the globe. then we see a battle scene. Then a crowning (which apparently takes place while the battle rages on). Nothing joins these scenes together, the remain separate, seemingly just kludged together.
- Who on earth thought that slamming a blurred stone pillar into the player's face would be a good idea? Was this a placeholder because they couldn't manage to finish the graphics for this part? Was it an oversight? This part looks surprisingly amateurish.
- The crowning scene was a poor choice imho. It might have worked as a victory movie, but for the intro Iwoul have liked something about the progress of civilization, not about one guy being crowned. I wonder why the put this one in. I actually suspect that the old man is meant to be Sid, and the new king is meant to be Soren. (Civ4, as the first game with him in the lead, can be seen as his "crowning").
As much as I love the game (and i do, immensely

), the movies are not its strongest part ...
