I don't see why God would care about these one way or another. If altruism is admired in humans I see no reason to assume it is not present in God. You could argue that it is still right to be thankful, but to which of the innumerable deities that are, and have been, worshipped?
Why does a man love his father? Of course Christians are going to praise God, especially since we believe part of the Trinity descended to Earth and died so we could be saved. God deserves the praise of all of mankind for all he's done for us (creating, sustaining, and liberating the human race and all)
