MAs are nice and all, but you need three resources to build them, which did you vote for? ;)

I generally think that i can't live without Iron. Swordsman conquest is so good in the ancient ages for me, just have to get hold of some. Oil is also good too.

coal

well sure i need iron too to build railroads but coal + iron wasnt a choice. coal is the one resource i nearly panic over if i dont get it in my culture area when the time comes for it.

I agree. The other thing is I can usualy trade for iron since every civ in the game will know iron working quite quickly but as for coal, I'm often the first to get the steam engine and if I'm not there arn't too many that have it yet so importing it is a bit tricky.

Iron, it is the resource that important troughout the game coal is nice but it arives late in the game so iron is defenitly #1.

besides who ever heard of ruling with a coal fist. :crazyeye:

Lol, that is quite funny. :D

Coal.
I play mostly on huge maps and when coal becomes available typically you have a fairly sizeable military but a larger nation to defend. If you can’t move units quickly to the places you need them you’ll be in serious trouble.

for me,iron is only relevent during the begining of the game.i already have several irons by the time i get steam engine, and the way i play if i dont iron in my border area at the start, its time to send in the 'diplomatic ambasadors' :mischief:

Gold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And lots of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:joke:
(my real choice:iron)

Iron, by the time oil and coal are needed you could have won the game! Oh, and if your Japan there is no way you can choose something else!!!

Iron has to be the only resource useful in all earas. Alos, if you have iron near the begining, and have a couple of effective early wars as a result of this, you will normally end up with the gold, science and production to trade it most other resources.
