If you're thinking of buying L.A. Noire for the PC, you might want to think again. I'm interested in it, but its producers seem to have dropped the ball on its PC port, judging by Amazon reviews. It's a shame, too, because Rockstar does immersive environments well, and I'd love to experience 1940s Los Angeles..

People seemed to have problem with retail versions I think. Got my Steam version for like 10$. Worked perfectly.

Getting it through Steam, L.A. Noire was fine in terms of being able to play it. It was just a dull game.

I watched a few "let's play's" and except for driving, you don't do much of anything.

The Saboteur, by the same developers, looks more interesting, but still looks like a driving game.

Not really, you can skip most driving by having your team mate drive you there instantaneously ("You're behind the wheel!")

I found the game enjoyable. I'm not done with it yet though. I liked the characters and the crimes and the atmosphere. It has a strong theme and setting and sometimes I don't need that much more to enjoy a game.

Probably has zero replay value. Not one of the priorities in OP's list.

Amazon has L.A. Noir and The Saboteur on sale for $4.99 until April 15.
