What to do in Arkansas?

Wrong, it was set in the Southern US.

Thats....kind of a big area....

afaik, it was in the Appalacian Mountains in the Eastern USA. Last I checked, Arkansas is West of the Mississippi.

So, yeah....I am kinda right.

Yeah, in Georgia. Picking a wilderness area between Macon and Savannah puts that about 600 miles away. That's like driving across Rhode Island 30 times at its widest point!
On the other hand it's closer than 99.4% of the rest of the world.

(math)

So, yeah....I am kinda right.
WRONG! :smug:

I USED MATH! :smug:

DID YOU USE MATH?

I USED MATH! :smug:

:lmao:

Yeah, the cultural difference between Arkansas and Georgia isn't much, if there is any.

oh my bad, thought it was still in Georgia, misread the top post on this page.

FYI, the Appalachians go all the way to New York State.

And I believe Deliverance was set in West Virginia. Many things from that movie I hope no man to ever re-enact.

No, they extend through the tip of Quebec and to the west coast of Newfoundland :smug:

Uhm. Having been to both.....yes.
Was Appalachia more like Deliverance or Argentina?

The book was set in Georgia. The main difference between Arkansas and Georgia is the order in which cousins and livestock fall on the marriagability scale.

That's just where it was filmed. It doesn't mean the Chattooga River was meant to be implied as the real river. That would be like claiming those worlds SG-1 went through were really all supposed to be British Columbia.

No, it's much more than that. Dickey was obviously describing the Chattooga when he wrote Deliverance. He even paddled down it before writing the book.
