I like the bucanners idea, I usually make the mounted warrior available to everyone and give it the hidden nationality ability. During the colonial era it was a common practice to dress up like 'savages' and attack another country's colonies when you didn't want to start a war.
 
Hidden nationality would Kick major butt- expecially with a Right Of Passage treaty :)
 
New unit? Some sort of guerrilla stuff, which could have extra bonuses defense&offense on a certain terrain.
Cheap to build, not quite strong, and would cause extra unhappiness under democracy.

I can see no reason for flame throwers, nor any other single unit's.
Start playing RTS's if you wan't that.

Instead, modern ground units are demanding a clear and useful infantry unit ---
maybe modern fast moving unit's should have special negative effects on certain terrains -
this would actually make infantry units useful on the late game.

Yeah, idea sounds good... Hmmm... The question is, will it be hard to make true?

Infantry (or worker) unit can place mines in tiles. Mine-tiles cannot be used in city controlling, and every unit
that comes to the mine-tile, will suffer 1 hp losses.
Mines can be taken out by workers (slow). (Or by mech inf like in real world, but me thinks
this would mess up the game engine).
 
What I would like to see is mobile SAM launchers - mobile units with an anti-aircraft ability.

Also, strategic bombers with huge range (say 60) would be great.
 
I'd like the ability to build a less-advanced unit to a degree. As things stand either you don't bother upgrading the old ones to use them as MPs or you end up with Mech Inf as MPs which is a bit bizarre.

I don't believe a secret police/MP type activity requires cutting edge tech weapons - just a big stick would do.

Perhaps actually have govt-specific units?
* Only Commies get secret police - cheap for MP duty but not so hot on defence/attack
* Monarchy could get some kind of Royal Guard (?) not sure what it would do. Automatically be veteran or higher?
* Republic could get a patriot/levee-en-masse unit - perhaps a build rule like the worker, so that you give up pop (like draft) but put in shields and get a decent unit
* Democracy could get some kind of non-military unit - perhaps they could build mobile entertainers?? (touring rock band unit?)
 
I voted for mine/minelayers,

but what I would really like to see is an AAA unit. You could even create several in a an upgrade path (WW2 era AAA gun unit, upgradable to a modern mobile SAM unit).

Just a thought...
 
I'd like to see a land unit that transports other units. I also wish you could remove units from the production list. I hate seeing the swordsman choice in the modern ages.

This is really a unit request, but I'd like to have the little train from Test of Time back when you travel on railroads.

I don't think that the hidden nationallity units should be tweaked more. The AI might start using them. That would be heck.
