Don't say that! You'll just make ali even more crazy and unstable! We're here because we're fanatical about Civ: it's not a site for loopy fanatics. Obviously this site has a slightly smaller influence than a published novel, but remember what happened to Salman Rushdie. You shouldn't make dumb jokes just to wind people up

. Especially when you don't know them. I can never really be bothered to customise civs, but do name the cities A,B,C, etc. or 1,2,3.. to make management easier later in the game. I also feel sure that you will have difficulty naming cities for all these custom civs you're planning. With the English, French and Americans I can get most of the cities proper names, but on the others I'd have to go and find an atlas when the original names started to run out.

THE CONFEDERACY
Capitol: Richmond
Leader: Robert E. Lee
Type: Militaristic and Religious
(the Confederacy had a good army with good military leaders, and everyone knows the southern US is full of bible-brandishing religious fanatics)
Special Unit: Sharpshooter
(improvement on rifleman)

POLAND (I'm Polish)
Capitol: Warsaw
Leader: Jozef Pilsudski
Type: Religious and Scientific
(Poland is real religious, and a lot of famous scientists as well as Nicholas Copernicus were polish)
Special Unit: Hussar
(improvement on knight)

SPAIN
Capitol: Madrid
Leader: Felipe II
Type: Expansionist and Religious
(Spain colonized most of the new world, and started the holy inquisition)
Special Unit: Tercio
(improvement on pikeman, take a look at 16th century european history)

INTERZONE (anyone read Naked Lunch?)
Capitol: Interzone
Leader: Dr. Benway
Type: Commercial + Scientific
Special Unit: Mugwump
(improvement on modern infantry)

Expansionist... Well, in europe everything was achieved by heritage, so diplomatic way. And the Inquisition...
I would make the Tercio an improvement not of the pikeman but of the musketeer.

I like the idea of a peace keeping unit as a special unit for the Canadians. I was also thinking a mountie (RCMP) might also be a good special unit. It would also be cool to have a diplomatic special unit, but I see a few problems with this. For example, if a golden age is only started by attacking someone. (Does buying count as attacking?)

I guess cities would be Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. After that there are still lots of cities to chose from (but the population drops off a lot).

Leader? Sir John A. MacDonald? Trudeau? (Technically the head of state is the Monarch in England, but this seems counter productive to making a custom Civ of Canada).

I always thought it was cool in CivII when you built enough cities that the default name was Toronto.
(You know you're Canadian when . . .
You say whohoo whenever a US television program mentions Canada.)

Some of the other custom Civ ideas sound really good to.

Mongols
Leader: Genghis Khan
Capital: Karakorum
Special Unit: Horse Archer (if the Knight is a 4/2/2 then it would be a 5/1/3)
Benefits: Militaristic and Expansionist

I might call the special unit a Mangudai like in AoE2:AoK. But I don't really know if a Mangudai is just a made up word or what. I can't find it in my dictionary. All I know is that their special unit would be a man riding a horse and using a bow & arrow as his weapon.

Conquistador is a single person! Tercio is a battle group like division or legion...
And for sure it is an improvement of the musketeer

In an unexplainable twist of fate, the Chinese and Americans merge into the:

Chinese American Superpower from Hell.
devil.gif

Name: Chinese American Superpower from Hell (CASH)
Capital: New Beijing
Cities: Chinatown, Golden Mountain, New Hong Kong
Abilities: Scientific and Industrious
Special Unit: Kung Fu Master (in honor of Bruce Lee) (perhaps a better version of Warrior 2/2/2 with Forestwalk, Flying, First Strike, Haste, Trample, cannot be target of spells and abilities...
biggrin.gif

Civilzation: The Mayas
Leader: Tecun Uman (Quiche prince who fought against the spanish during the conquest)
Cities: Tikal, Utatlan, Iximche, Uaxactun, Kaminal Juyu, Piedras Negras, Copan.
Abilites: Religious and Scientific
Special Unit: Ahau (2/2/1) (A/D/M)
(Ahau were the lords that govern the Mayan cities. They were great warriors)

My first Custom Civ Will be the J'BOOtians

J'BOOtian
Capitol: J'BOOtie City
Leader: Sukenis the J'BOOtian Warlord
Type: Expansionist and Religious
Special Unit: Loyalist
(Improvement on partisan (SP) basically partisan with +1 movement. This is assuming that this unit is still in the game)

While giving a partisan +1 move really gives it +3 move (any square counts as a road) the fact that the are obsolete before they come out (in civ 2 at least) makes them less useful. The only real advantage of them is when you loose a city, you can scatter them more quickly is desired. If this is to powerful then I would add +1 to defense. This would make the a reverse rifleman.

Any comments on the special unit?

My first civ will offcourse be Portugal:
Capital: Lisbon
Leader: D. Joao II (in english John II);1455-1485 - portuguese king known to us as "The Perfect prince". Master of diplomacy (some say that he formed the first secret services of Europe, to protect the portuguese navigation secrets). He was at the merge of adding Spain to the Portuguese Royal House. His only son was to be married with the daughter of the Catholic Kings, and was supposed to get both crowns, since the spanish heir to the crown was very ill. But the portuguese prince died, falling from a horse and the king entered a deppressive state and died soon after. Under his leadership, Portugal became the world's greatest sea power until 1520/30 when the spices loadings from India and Java became shorter leading the country to economic ruines, just like it happened to our neighbours, the spanish with the gold from America a century later.
Civilization abilites: Commercial and Religious
Special unit: Portuguese Caravel, the only european ship of the XVth century that could navigate with safety in the high sea, so maybe it will have higher movement rate.

After that I´ll try to create some neglected civilizations like the Arabs, the Turks, Byzantines, Axumites, Incas... well, I hope I'll have time for it...

------------------
"Bellum sine bello"

Well, since the magnificent Greeks are incorporated into the game, I should try and create a tribe called The Cretans (from the island of Crete, Greece), capital city Iraklion, with the famous leader Petsaras (redneck, for those who aren’t familiar with the Cretan dialect) and the special unit “the Anogeianos”, a fearsome guerilla loaded on cheese
chef.gif

Or I could try to bring the almighty Banana tribe to life! Capital city Chiquita, leader is the bigger-than-life Sly Banana, and special unit the dreadful Banana Donut!
mwaha.gif

On a more serious note, I’d be happy to play with the Minoans, with Knossos as the capital, Minoas as a leader – a trade/religious civilization with some early sea special unit (Minoan Trireme or something like that maybe?).

I like the minoan idea. their special unit could be Icarus. an early flying unit that if it stays up in the sky to long it's wings "melt" and in falls. 5/2/5

i think turks will be.i'm a turk and i know that turks are have very important role in world history. in early ages in middle asia turks have goverments and empires like Göktürk's, Kutluð etc. and turk's are relative with lots of assian tribes like Huns, Mongols, Kýrghýzs, Özbeks etc. And at AD, Turks are move to west. Seljuks and Ottoman Empires are effects all islamic world and east europa (balkans). Ottoman empire reaches the one of the greatest power of world nearly XVI-XVII centuries. in 1453 istanbul (constantinapolis) conquered, byzantines last city and capital (which couldn't conquer from an other tribes for centuries). And turks brings Chinese tech and science to europe (china is neighbour of assian turks).
Now Turkey is an important country at its region. Not one of the most powerfull or advenced in science and economy, but a leader between middle east and balkans.
All shows that turks must be in civ like Test of Time or Age of Emp2. or lots of people choose Turks as a costom tribe.

Conquistador an improvement of musketeer ? Conquistador are 16th century soldier armed of swords, armor and occasionaly harquebuses (primitive guns). Musketeers are from the 17th century and armed of muskets which is an improved harquebuses. How could the former be an improvement of the latter ?
