Hm, I was about to say it's been like a year with no updates but I forgot last time I played was 2nd October 2011 xD.. nonetheless, there has not been ANY news or upcoming DLCs or even expansion packs announced since Korea came out!? Has the series been discontinued or something? We should have had some news by now?

I suspect there will probably be a big announcement in the next quarter or so, hopefully an expansion pack!

It's starting to seem unlikely any major new content is planned, and possibly not any more DLC. They recently made an announcement about a new Firaxis game planned for release in late 2012; if they're able to make accouncements about releases that far ahead, they would likely have announced any forthcoming Civ content. Moreover there have been a lot of impatient questions on forums about patches, game code, expansions and DLC plans. The developers have responded only to assure players that patches and game code are/were planned, while remaining silent on the question of additional content.

Hmm good point. Sad :(

Well at least we can all hope for another facebook game. I'm sure it will be just as good as CivWorld! Can't wait to buy some more CivBucks :)

Yes, I'll be depressed if they don't have anymore DLC or expansions. I still love playing the game and such and have never got into any mods so there's always that. But after playing the game for a yr and a half and beating each scenario at least once and beating the game with each leader, even the newest ones, at least twice, I'm worried I'm gonna get tired of it soon or at least move onto something else and forget about it. There's always gaps when other games I'm interested come out like Skyrim, Assassins creed games, Dragon Age, various FPS etc. but Civ 5 is the one I seem to come back to consistently. It'd just be depressing to see it stop expanding after so little addition. Especially after Civ 4 had such a plethora of content added after the fact.

Anywho, I still hold out hope for future DLC/Expansion but it sounds like it could be just that; Hope.

while i don't wanna get too much off topic, the game needs more flavour to it, for me it's bit bland at the moment, maybe I'm just missing some stuff from Civ 4, I just wish Civ 4 had 1 upt system. (I just prefer it)

Stack combat was a hassle, annoying and lacked the feeling of any real strategy, this is honestly the only reason people that loved CIV still put up with this, if only firaxis still gave a damn about their hardcore fanbase.
If were lucky though they might pull a BTS, when the dll gets released mods will undoubtedly have a go at fixing the ai turd (diplo and strategic), if they succeed firaxis might very well copy/steal their work and package it into am expansion, probably bundling it with some features that are not difficult to make (I'm guessing religions, because god knows their creativity well ran dry a long time ago, and some new/CIVbts civs).

Somebody just needs to mod into IV no stacking the UU's and UB's from V into IV.

Modding the Civ IV AI into Civ V might help somewhat. The AI remains the fundamental issue with Civ V, which is a particular shame because it particularly screws with the key changes in the game engine which represent advances over Civ IV. Granted, Civ IV AI probably wouldn't handle 1UPT, denunciations or city state relations much better than Civ V AI - these are innovations that fundamentally demand more sophisticated AIs than the Civ IV mechanics - but there are basic things Civ IV AIs could do that Civ V's apparently can't. A Civ IV AI would build the spaceship once it started. Civ IV AIs knew that helicopters couldn't capture cities and knew how to use fighters to intercept and bombers to bomb. There are excuses that can be made where more complex combat, dynamic diplomacy etc. has to be factored in, but not being programmed with such basic, non-situational rules as how specific units work is not excusable.

there is a news section, but nothing on Civ right now. just that they are doing another XCOM.

there will probably be another Civ update, just no official announcement that goes so far as specifics like what/when/how much.

we're in the instantaneous communications world now. there's very little chance you'll ever actually miss out on an announcement, just how timely you need to know will dictate how much effort you'll need to keep up.

Well I know that, even Steam keeps me informed, I just find it weird, it's like everybody forgot about the game (even I haven't played the game in ages)

yeah, most games have a quick succession of DLCs cuz interest is high. but the gaming communities move from one flavor to the next pretty rapidly, so a couple years later and several DLCs later is probably all its gonna be. I'd love to see a new Borderlands DLC but the game is already a few years old. Don't even know if/when i get to see Borderlands 2.

Agreed, there's a lot of low-hanging fruit for modding; much of what can be fixed without the .dlls has been already. It should get interesting when the dll is released.

I have not played CiIV in awhile. Isn't there a way to limit the number of units in stacks? I am going to replay Road to War mod it was upgraded to BTS 3.19 awhile ago. I wanted to try it out, see if I can't get back into it. I am done with V too much there needs work. I have a World War II itch I need to scratch.

Yeah, and i thought someone mentioned that this was supposed to be a small patch and bigger one is coming out. Is there any confirmation on this.

I do have to say, if they stop here with V......i can not express how disappointed I would be. Sid, where are you man!!!! ))))
