What's "Memory allocation failure - exciting programm"???

I thinks I got the fix. Modify your .ini file. Civ uses virtual memory in a way that windows doesn't like, hence the crashes. Putting the control back into window's hand seems to fix the inability to run the game, although I've had a few anomalies, namely some barbarian bears appear, in a no barbarian game, when tech is in the modern era.

The only anomalies I've noticed so far is that some of the unit animations don't update after they've taken damage. Minor annoyance at worst. I'll have to see if I can complete a game with these settings on the 160x100 map I made.

OMG people, it's a fault made by Firaxis, it has nothing to do with RAM and mods, they only make the error more likely to occur. Nothing more nothing less. And yes, there is a fix being made:)

Who is making the fix, and when can it be expected?

Oh, come on!!! There must be som way to solve this problem!?

I've read through every thread within loads of forums of thousands that have the same problem and I'm bored of all the theories about system reqs and mods. Systemt requirenments is obviously not the problem with all the kick-ass power some people here posess! I don't care who's fault it is, Firaxis, modders or whoever - just get the damn thing fixed. Come on! And publish the fix here and you'll be a hero to thousands for all time. That's what you modders and codebreakers all do it for anyways right? Fame and recognision!?

Well, do it then!!!

The Fix has already been done. Its sittting in a warehouse and you can have it when it ships in July for just under 40 bucks. Its called an expansion pak. Don't like? No fix for you!...next!!

Ah, I love the strategy! Make a huge bug in one version, sell it and then make people buy the fix. Beautiful!

Yes when?

:mischief:

There is a "fix" that can be called ready, and it is already included in Visa 4.0. I only forgot the name of the guy who made it.

Note one thing, the fix doesn't solve it, but GREATLY reduces the change you get one. For example, instead of 400kb saves, I now have 7kb saves.

...and, unfortunately, the MAF occurred right at the usual filesize for my system: about 1200kb or more. I may try the Visa mod, have it downloaded, but it has so much stuff in it. Is that MAF workaround available as a standalone somewhere? Else, I could just try to incorporate my usual xml-only tweaks into Visa, or try 140x84 maps.
