hello

i'm disappointed that the use for keshig is transporting non-combat units but not much else.

i want to show off my mongol power using its unique unit but disappointed they have no real use :(

how should i use keshig in domination game? thx

I use them to shoot down enemy units on the field (i.e. away from enemy ships, enemy encampments, etc), but it's true that against encampments and the like you often need siege equipment.

They were very useful before the battering/siege tower nerf, as you could quickly move them to the next city you want to conquer. Now that is no longer that important but Keshigs have still their use for escorting settlers. And with the extra CS Mogolia gets a strong mobile ranged unit is always useful.

I agree with Civ Chemist - they were incredibly useful for battering ram/siege tower movement prior to the cavalry nerf. Even today, a 4 movement Xbowman isn't too shabby, and I believe they can also capture rival cavalry. +1 for the settler escort as well. Not top tier, but also not the P51.

Indeed. That is the great power. You are going to have to acquire them at a good time in the Science Tree Relative to the Troop strength of your opponent. If you Start with Three Keshigs and end up with 6 seven turns later. The battle is over not just for that Civ. But for the next Civ. Because you are that much stronger.

They can still escort Great Generals too, right?

They could be nearly as good as in V with the addition of the ability to move after attacking.

I think the AI had trouble with moving after attacking, which is one reason to not allow it. Another is that it works horribly in multiplayer, which is the only time you aren't dealing with AI...

It wouldn't be hard to mod them to move after attacking. It's just a setting in the unit listing.

They're quite good, actually. They have access to the ranged promotion tree, which for my money is the best promotion tree in the game. If you can get a Keshig with four promotions (Volley, Arrow Storm, Garrison, and Incendiaries), these things can shred both armies and cities. Though, it is unfortunate that they don't get Genghis' Mongol Horde bonus. If I were the devs, I'd patch that in because it really doesn't make sense, since they can benefit from both the Chivalry and Feudal Contract cards (non-stacking), so it kind of counts as both unit types.

The thing is Ghengis and his crew were masters on the battlefield. With the bonuses you get for Inside information on your enemies. You don 't want to make them too strong. I too thought at first. Wow they are not that strong. I expected something different. But that was early on in my Civ 6 playing. Next time I play them. I know how to play them. Heck the AI are beast with the Mongols.

Whenever they are in my games on Emperor. I always try to take them out or have a beast defense ready for them.

It's a ranged unit. Ranged units are generally far better than direct combat units for killing things, because they don't take damage when dealing damage.
But it can also gallop very fast.

Mobile + Ranged effectively breaks the rules of civ combat because ranged units vulnerability is something getting close. But keshigs can mitigate that.
This allows you to catch enemy units offguard too since you have essentially 6 tiles of reach in any direction. In civ5 we had camel archers that were similarly hard to fight.

Basically, use it as a tactical beast to slaughter anything in between you and a city. Then deal with the city normally.
Ranged units can still rack up XP during sieges because they don't block melee units from hitting the city.

Overall these guys are amazing if you know how to leverage ranged units.

In PVE, yes, keshigs are not as comparable as knights, sure. You can stack a lot of diplomatic bonus for knights using Mongol.

In PVP, where you can hardly stack diplomatic bonus against other civilizations, Keshigs are good at war.

I personally find mounted units underwhelming for domination. Keshigs can't really breach city walls with crossbows inside.
