I like playing as the arabs, as they have a quick access to religion, because they start with mysticism. And also Saladin, because of the +100% GPP.

Of the options I chose France...
Also considered USA, Carthage, Holy Rome, Ethiopia

no one likes salads? with the croutons? maybe with a side of preats? really? i can beat 2 computers at once while constantly getting GGs whats not to love? and cheap courthouses for the newly conquered cities plus a ower cost cuz there far away? and the preats are good until like the 1800s and cheap as F*&CK!

If you'd read the poll, you'd have known that Rome is not an option at this stage.

Another for Egypt.

Horses seem pretty common and I like the War Chariot more than the Immortal.
I always seem to do well as Egypt. I don't find the UB much use, however.

Yeah, the obelisk doesn't really do anything for you. I actually build the War Chariot, while when I'm playing as any other civilization, I just forget that the Chariot exsists, you know? It requires horses and The Wheel, but horses require Animal Husbandry. And if you do get horses before you research Horseback Riding, your not likely to build a chariot. But a War Chariot, I want to build, because of the good early bonus it provides.

I choose the Americans. Most of the time in the anchient-Medevial times they suck in wars, but come the Industrial peroid, their a beast.

Just once, I'd like to see this oft-repeated poll with a qualifying statement about what I'm supposed to base my vote on.

The one I consider strongest? Mechanically sweetest? Coolest history? Prettiest colour and most pleasant music? Sexiest smile/pout of the leader? Also, are we assuming default or unrestricted leaders?

Germany for me. Good traits for both leaders, Frederick rocks at peaceful expansion and GP farming, Bismark is a Vonder poverhouse, and their UU comes in handy in combat outside of cities. A bit late in the game, but still good. Plus, I like Germany in real life. Especially Bismark.

I personally don't really give a crap, to say it lightly, how you decide to vote on what your favorite civ is. If you like the color of the machine gun on the marine of the Aztecs, pick the Aztecs. If you like the trait combination on the Greeks, pick the Greeks, if you like the unique unit and building of some civ, vote for that one. It's basically the people's opinion on which one they like best.

Byzantium with double the votes of Carthage?

From this list, Carthage. The Cothon is a very good UB, especially if it can be paired with the Great Lighthouse. Opening techs are useful off the bat, especially with seafood in the capital's bfc. Numidian Cavarly is a top 5 UU IMHO. And the only leader, Hannibal, has two upper tier traits in Financial and Charismatic. Very solid civ.

Just took a peek at the poll results so far. Aztecs are doing well, as they should (slavers loooove the Sacrificial Altar). Two votes for America? Three solid leader choices and nice starting techs, but the uniques come far too late to be all that useful. England doing well, as always (solid mid-game UU and UB, and three good leaders - particularly Liz). Byzantum's strong showing is surprising. Cataphracts are nice, but the opening techs are meh, and Justinian is sorta meh; why the love?

Because he has a really cool hat with really cool music and a really cool UU and really cool city names and a really cool flag and a really cool civ color IMHO. Too bad I can't seem to play him right

Darn, I've gotten over a thousand views and 76 voters. I find that sad and discouraging.

Group 2 is still on track, though. It'll come out as soon as this poll closes.

The top 5 is a shocker for me: England, Byzantium, Aztec, Egypt, and Germany. Wow:huh:. Didn't expect that cast of characters.

What did you expect? The only one that I think doesn't belong in that list is Byzantium and maybe Aztecs. The other 3 are awesome.

I always like to have Carthage in my games. It's a dual threat- domination or space race. It's one which I think the A.I. plays pretty well. Probably my favorite to play, too.

I normally play as Brennus. The no anarchy is kinda nice, and I am Celtic so I often play as them.

Sorry, I'm a little late in putting group 2 up, but here are the civs that have been eliminated from the finals:

Babylon
China
France
Holy Rome

Now we will have all of the Group 2 votes to condsider to eliminate more people, but unless 10 civs in group 2 can get 22 votes, I think it's safe to say that England is in the Finals.
