Whoops. I accidentally voted for 7/Immortal when I meant 6/Emperor.

Deity is my bread and butter, and it is downright difficult in this mod. This is primarily because gaming the RA system was pretty much a requirement to ever hope to keep tech pace. The upside is that the vast increase in GPPs available help allow for greater spawns, but still delays things substantially.
Does this mean you're just spawning GSs the whole game?

Keep in mind Sneaks' post was made in August, so it might not represent the current state of things. This thread was resurrected due to me referencing this poll in another thread. :)

Whew. I'm in the middle of my first deity game right now(I'm spain), and I have to say, Thal, you made it tough. Much more so than what I'm used to in vanilla. I've only pulled off one non-domination victory in deity for vanilla (with ramses), and I don't think I could manage anything except warmongering in VEM. Washington spawned within ten tiles of me – with a catapult. I held off long enough to get conquistadors, and I'm finally on the offense. I'm pretty sure I can win like this, but I'm not sure If I want to play deity full-time, it's too exhausting.

Immortal still puts up a solid challenge, especially if I go for cultural victories, so I'd have to say that's my level of choice.

I figure the highest difficulty of games should be Nintendo Hard. After all, if the maximum difficulty of a game is too easy, we can't step up to a higher setting to find the challenge we want. :)

This is what I'm aiming for:

I was thinking recently how the ideal breakdown should be what you outlined as the goal, and that the recent changes in AI gold spending should help us get closer to it. (A lot of the other changes slow the AI about as much as they do humans).

I don't think that the goal "difficulty preference" is probable. At least in my own biased view, people who come here and want to play a modified version of civ are slightly more advanced in their gaming than the regular civ player. So I would expect a slight overweight of the higher difficulties. And it doesnt seem likely that two people who vote prince now will prefer two different difficulties later? I mean, if their skill level is the same now and then, they will probably still both be prince or, if the game becomes more challenging, both play on warlord or chieftan?

But this is obviuosly just me guessing and being bored and having nothing else to do whilst waiting for a new non-beta version to be released.

I agree dappi. That's why I'm not worried if settler/chieftain have few votes in the poll. I do feel the higher difficulties were too easy in vanilla, so I'm happy that fewer people are playing on deity/immortal in vem. However, at the time I originally took this poll there was only a single immortal/deity vote, so I slightly decreased the difficulty of those. I do want about 10% of people to like those settings.

I find Prince to be my choice in VEM, King sometimes when I want more challenge. On vanilla my confident level is Emperor.

Voted Emperor.
Only reason i probably avoid Deity is cuz i love to build wonders, and AI beat u to them most of the time on highest diff settings ;p
I would like AI to "think more" and "cheat less" if ya know what i mean.
In the end it dosnt matter as long u can conquer whole world with 3 units ( assuming u dont hold back ). Probably will need to w8 for AI scrypting breakthro and realese of Civ 6 or something...
But thats just me whining. Feel free to ignore me :]
