What's your name?

I am usually Grossstadt.

I like naming my leaders after historical leaders other than the ones the game uses. For example, I've used "Octavian" as Rome, "Abd al Latif" as Arabia, "Shah Isma'il" or "Ardashir" as Persia, etc. etc.

You get the idea.

I always use some sort of funny name. For example:
Isabella -> Iso-Bella (iso is large in finnish)
Elizabeth -> Elisa Petti (means 'Elisa cheated')
Saladin -> Sala-Ding!
Alexander -> Alexander Not-So-Great
Montezuma -> Monta-Surma (means 'many death' in finnish)
And so on.

I stick to Hyronymus or to my real name (Jeroen). It keeps things simple :).

Tredje Khan ('Third Khan' in Swedish) with the Mongolians

Brammus (from my name) with Brennus (Celtic)

Birger Jarl with the Vikings

Hisahito (grandson of The Emperor) with the Japanse

Emperor Qin with the Chinese

Horus with Ramesses (Egypt)

George with Washington (America)

Wilhelm II with the Germans

Brutus with the Romans

Well now I use your system, I like it :)

Previously I would use some combination of Shawn and their name. Such as Shawn Capac, Shawnius Caesar, Shawnzuma, etc etc.

That's what I do. I'm a Blake, so I've played as Blakexander, Blakadin, Blake Kon, and the like. Some of them are lame (Blakerus for Cyrus), but I'm quite proud of Huyana Blakapac. Elizablake and Isablaka leave me feeling a little weird, but I've got to be consistent.

On a slightly related note, the grammar nazi in me absolutely hates some the Civ names. Every time Ragnar tells me, "Vikings offers you this trade," I'm tempted to declare war. And I rarely build the Pyramids, but I really want to, just to be spared the announcement that "The Pyramids has been built in a far away land." Plus it should be "faraway." Oh, the things up with which I have to put!

My eight-year-old laughs whenever he reads that "Your axemen has been killed by a Archer." He yells at the monitor, "AN Archer, you dummy. AN Archer!"
It's such an easy thing to program, too. Tsk Tsk.

"That's a cool little trick. Where did you learn that?"
"Yourexwife told me."

hahaha!

back in civ2? you could choose your titles for each type of government. i would sometimes enter "Bozohead" for each type. affectionate nickname for my dog (no really, it's a compliment in my weird world). it was so fun to see my people celebrate "We Love The Bozohead Day!"

I always use fun insults as my leader name. Stuff like "bastard", "you little b!tch", etc. That way you get a good laugh everytime another leader asks for something -

"Can you help out a friend in need, you pig f*cker?" ...but that's just how my warped little mind works.

Yup, thats what I do.... the last one I used the name "kiss my *** " It gave my a good laugh when they would say PLEASE right before :lol:

oh i'd just about die laughing when hatty does that pouty face and says "that's not very nice, [name]" :lol:

the default name thing was annoying me (having to change the name from something like x521463-542-5642 to Gamedude107)

so i changed teh Computer name to Gamedude =)

My name is always the leader or some nickname ("Freddy") and the numeral of how many times I've played that leader. This is great for being able to tell which games are which and keeps me aware of how frequently I've used each leader. I started a game with "Mao V" today.

I do the same thing, except I add a little abbrevation that tells me something about the game setup, so "Shaka PF II" is the second time I play Shaka, and this time it's on Prince, Fractal (I removed the E for Epic and the H for Huge I had in the abbrevations, since I always play Epic and Huge). I find the automatic naming and game-saving system unbelievably strange. It's almost as if the program assumes that every game is played by a different person. Why not keep the original names in place, as in the previous versions?
