Well, I think this is self-explanatory. I was wondering when people guess the editor will be finished. Just to clarify one potential confusion, a public beta version wouldn't count, I'm asking about a final version.

Personally, I'll be a bit optimistic and say early next year. I can't concieve of it being finished this year given how long it's been already. Especially since it's been two weeks since Brad said "As for status, I took a month off during JK2 in August to work on the editor since it was ahead of schedule and very nearly got it to beta, but I didn't quite make it before I had to return to work on JK2. Now that it's in the can and I have no other major deadlines or commitments, I expect the editor work to move along fairly quickly again." Not at beta yet and only 6.5 weeks left in the year, so I just don't see that happening.

If I were being pessimistic, I'd say it'll go the way of BGI multiplayer, but I think that's just my frustration speaking.

There's only one vote that counts, and it ain't mine.

I voted December. Not necessarily 2002, either.

 "December" was kind of intended to mean December 2002.

Voted to first 3 months of 2003.

Because this is not anybody's deadline, but mine. After that I will be very busy and not able to play with Civ3 or editor.t

Well, where's the fun in that?

What I do wonder: if that PTW for Mac report is actually true, will Brad be on that team?

I would assume so. It would only be logical, since he's more familiar with the code than anyone else.

This is both good and bad.
Good: He knows the code. He talks to us on occasion and keeps us informed. We usually know here first and Macgamer/IMG finds out a day later (from looking here).
Bad: If the gaming corporate world works at all like the rest of the corporate world, the guy actually doing the work will probably be the last to know about it. There will some custodian at Westlake that'll make an offhand remark about PTW development and Brad will be clued in. When the execs see the stunned look on his face, they know he found out, and it becomes official. Then we find out. It'll take forever.

That's bad.

Bad, bad, bad.
But not unusual.

As a side note, on "figuring out if it can be done": The only thing worse than death-by-committee is birth-by-committee.
