Whenever the game starts to load, my computer freezes

I've topped the reccomended requirements easily. However, when I start the game up the little box comes up and it says "Loading" in different languages. This will stay up for a few minutes, then the computer will freeze.

My comp is:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1024 MB Ram
ATI Radeon X800 video card (updating drivers now)

Please help!

If it's any help, this has happened to Black and White 2 and Battle for Middle Earth as well. However, I haven't tried those games on my current card.
