Where has Kael gone (the slacker!)

Heya folks.

Just to let you know I took some time off to concentrate on a side project. I've been writing a short story called the 'Ashes of Brigdarrow'. I have an idea for a book of short stories which are loosely connected dark fantasy stories set in Erebus (working title is 'The Book of Tears').

That's so cool. Best of luck! Sounds very Tanith Lee-ish.

There is probably less than a 1% chance anything will come of it.

Just curious, when you started the mod, what would you have guessed the success rate was then?

About the same, I never thought FfH would take off like it has. So hopefully lightning will strike twice.

Good luck!

I guess we got a little spoiled with the constant updates after Ice so things have seemed pretty quiet lately.

No matter what, I hope you decide to share it with us at some point. Hopefully that will be as a published book!

If some of the other mods had the dedication that you have for this one, then they would have taken off as well. (Fury Road comes to mind)

actually, lightening has a habit of striking again, one lady has been shocked 7 times!

Yeah, the saying that lightning doesn't strike the same place twice is nonsense. If lightning strikes somewhere in the general area as it had before, chances are it will be the same spot because the lower electrical resistance that drew it there in the first place is still there. Lightning rods would be pointless otherwise.

Lightning rarely ever hits a lightning rod. The point of the things is to create a massive electrical field, resulting in a balancing of the electrostatic energies and thus a complete absence of lightning.

But yes, if there is a single lightning rod and a MASSIVE storm then it cannot compensate for the imbalance alone and thus becomes the lowest resistance pathway (technically the lightning striking it is still the rod doing the same job it has been doing all along, but now it has hit catastrophic breakdown and did it much more rapidly)

But yeah... lightning is incredibly likely to strike one location repeatedly. And once Blue Moons start to happen, they tend to happen frequently for a while...

Wow, I've been spending too much time in the subforums.
Good luck with the Book of Tears, Kael! Might aid in getting converts...

If I remember reading Kael's other writing correctly, a whole BOOK full of it will be the next Tolkien, haha

I hope it does really well... I will be first on the list to pre-order it. Least I can do for someone who has brought me years of enjoyment and adding much needed life to civ. (heck IIRC he won a few thousand bucks with FFH and just gave it away to Unicef(sp?) the man comes close to being a saint. Well except for the two miracles...)

I'd buy it, you should post a thread on it then we can buy it and make it go Viral !!!

The weak economy isn't helping at the moment as Publishing Houses thin down (and out). The one exception, Romance :p
Still, having lost poor Bambur to a wily gnome, I know all things are possible.

Having lost Kithra Kyriel in her first fight against a Calabim Axeman, I know everything that has about a 1% of happening, happens in 9/10 cases.

Oh and Kael, this sounds awesome! I believe DioBrando planned on writing a FfH book aswell, but I haven't heard from him about it in a while :(
