With all this talk about Civilization and how it's the greatest game on earth, i'm probably not the only one who figured out yesterday that Civilization IV was even available; I was wondering what will happen with the precious, great, and short lived Civilization III.

If your case is anything like mine your computer is barely capable of running a long awaited hot seat game of Conquests let alone even looking at the system requirements for Civ IV. So where are we all, have some of us clinged on to the more playable Civilization III or are we all fighting to make ourselves exclusive to the who's the best at Civ IV race.

Personally, I think i'll do the exact same thing with Civ IV as I did with Civ III, play it a bit and then find something else to do until the 3 expansions come out and I can just buy the complete set at a fraction of the cost. So where do you fit in? :goodjob:

Ill probobally get a used copy from one of the local stores, I bought a new Compaq*cringe* at the same time I bought Civ Complete and a new vid card *nvidia!! :D * so I'll just get civ 4 then decide.

What a strange Poll.
It doesn't have the option of "Stay Playing Civ3". What would be the driver for changing to Civ IV? I play solo, and I have many more-than-adequate graphics for a turn-based game thanks to aaglo and the many others ((thanks to all those 'departed'(?) creators once again)).
I dislike the culture option in CivIII, which I think is daft, and as for the superstition/religion bit in Civ IV ....

Keep playing CivIII untill I get a new laptop.

Until I get Civ 4 and time to play it, I play a variety of games including Civ III (Stronghold, RTW, SMP2) until I get it.

I will lurk the IV forum until all aspects of the game are covered (and happily play III).

I have bought Civ IV, and had a little poke around. It looks good, but I won't try to play seriously until there's been a patch.
Anyways, I have stuff still to do in Civ III--at the moment I'm playing a Huge Archipelago map at Demigod, which I intend to milk for score.

I voted for option 2 but in even if I had a new computer tomorrow, I would wait until it has been patched, expanded and found in the bargain bin before I buy it.

In actual fact, I should go for option 5...my wife would like that anyway...

I voted for playing both. I bought Civ4 and it runs just fine on my new computer, but I really prefer C3C. C4 just hasn't grabbed me like C3 did, but I keep trying C4 and hoping I'll enjoy it once I sort out all the new things...maybe a patch will help.

Same here. I will play civ3 for the forseeable future. There are a couple of civs I haven't even played as yet :) I tend to spend time playing different mods of the game with stronger civilizations. Each game takes me a long time as well, as I like huge maps.

With the enormous amount of fan created content out there, there is tons to do with civ3. I willl not buy civ4 for at least a year, possibly longer, I may wait for most of the expansions to come out first. I HATE having to download a dozen+ patches for a game and its expansions.

Well... I have all civs from 1 to 4 with all expansions(expansions for civ3) and I play them when I feel like it :P sometimes I don't play any civ-game for like 3 or 4 months, but then the urge comes back and I'm back playing civ :P
I downloaded this civ4... honestly... don't like it... I even prefer civ2 to civ4... the graphics is horrible for a 2005 game...
I'd rather they had spent more time on the graphics... the graphics is just like the first 3D RPG.s... too smooth and unrealistic... there are no "sharp corners or spikes" anywhere...
It sux - just my opinion...

Yeah, I have to agree with a lot of you guys and say that I also still have more to learn about Civ III, races to play, startegies to try, and scenarios to play. I hate how when a game first comes out like Civ III and has so many little quirks and stuff that it's not even a good game compared to the final expansion. I'm not about to buy Civ IV, learn all about it and then wait to see how much better the upgrades and patches make it.

On the bright side I'll still have plenty of multiplayer opponents as soon as I figure out how to play at my college or buy a highspeed internet connection of my own. Hope to see you all on the battlefield soon.

I've stopped SG's and SP games in Civ3 and started playing SG's and SP games in Civ4.

However, I'm still playing Civ3 PBEM's and the Civ3 MTDG which has been most interesting. For those of you who'd like to play in a multi team game it's still early at turn 58 or so. Each of the teams have a great dynamic. The MTDG will definitely carryover to Civ4 once the admins and players get patched up and used to the game.
