The Question Is Self Explanatory.

This goes through every age in history.

I myself like European, Lots of battles, wars, and conflicting interests.

I voted for Mid East. Three major reglions started here. This region is the cross roads of Eurasia. So you get European civs colonzing, Byzantium, Rome, Ottoman and even Mongols have ruled it.

if I had to choose one, it would be European, though the near east is close- in fact thay all are, I love world history, but my favorite is history the med. sea...

I too like all history and all regions, but most of my books are about the Mediterranean region, 500 BC to 500 AD.
So I'm the same as Xen really:-
*Classical Greece
*Macedon
*Republican Roman
*Imperial Roman
*Late Roman
*Achaemenid Persia
*Seleucid Persia
*Parthian Persia
*Sassanid Persia
*Moslem/Arabic Persia
....and all their enemies of course. :)

right on!, its not enough to know just about a civ like Persia, Or ROme, but you need to know about there enimies..which the spread to there enimies, which spreads to the enimies of the enimies of the enimies...:crazyeye: :crazyeye: :crazyeye:

I don't consider myself at liberty to specialize at the moment.

I'll admit that I go through "phases" in which I do large amounts of research in one particularly narrow phase of history only to go on to another one in a few months. You can see this in my forum account. My screen name dates back from a Diodoch War phase, while my avatar and member title are clearly from a mid 19th century American phase (which is obviously not ancient by most definitions.)

The Middle East and Egypt certainly give you the best mix of interesting personalities in the ancient world, though. Greece and Rome also when you look at their intrusions into the area.

I seem to be drawn to Egypt the most. The only problem with Egypt is that there is so much of the same information out there -- it seems that I could already write some 75% of the books on ancient Egypt that are out there. I'll have a chance to actually learn something new of that area depending on which university I end up getting into this year.

I live in America, duh.

Far East history is the best. Lots of details of the intriques were recorded. But European and Middle Eastern history are fun too. :D Too bad the Maya and Inca didn't get enough exposure in my textbooks...

i don't really like your subdivisions in the poll. All lot of areas interest me, Egypt, the Middle-East & the Meditteranian in ancient times.

I'm also interested in the American civs like the Mayan's, Aztecs, Inca's etc... but they were from a later period in history

I am interested in all areas accept Chinese and Indian(Asia) history.

I've read some books about the British Empire recently. But I wouldn't know for sure how it would fit in the poll, as the UK itself isn't the most interesting part of it for me. So I just settled for far east.

Your poll was simple, mine are Chinese history and Central Asian history.

European, but mainly into the history of Russia; so some strong Asian infulence there..

Ahhh to livein those times. Scary but an experience

Lately I've been reading about the Turks/Scythians, from Huns to Ottomans.

You said it best, sir. I myself went from colonial period of the Americas to Rome to Achaemenid Persia recently. :)

For now, Middle East/Mediterrean is my intrest.
