Which are your three favourite books?

Right, time to throw in some non-English titles, hopefully people will now them as they are quite famous:

"1001 Arabian Nights" - outstanding story telling! (Not really a book but it's in print so why not)

I really liked Pasolini's movie interpretation of Arabian Nights... definitely my type of movie ;)

It is tough to say which are my 3 favorite authors, let alone my 3 favorite books. Here are 3 that I especially enjoyed:

- Catch 22 (Joseph Heller)

- Cannery Row (John Steinbeck)

- A Farewell To Arms (Ernest Hemmingway)

Really, these are more or less random choices. I have read and enjoyed most of the titles mentioned here (or at least the ones available in English).

Oh yeah - mine too :groucho:

A few more before I head off into the night:

"Monkey" by Wu Cheng En (A massive piece of c15th Chinese satire, politics, religion, sex, rebirth, human nature, magic, geography, etc - huge book which the funky kung fu TV series only did moderate justice to)

"A House for Mr Biswas" by V. S. Naipaul (one of the most amazingly indepth pieces of characterisation I've read in any novel)

"The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint Exupéry (ah! beautiful!)

"Kim" by Rudyard Kipling (way better than the Jungle Book)

If I recall correctly, Peter Jackson (LOTR director) is going make a film of this book [The Lovely Bones].
Oh my gosh - really? *looks it up*
Actually - i have to say the ending was weiiird and a bit disappointing, but the rest of book more than makes up for it. It really is a very good read.

Here are some other great works of fiction that I really enjoyed reading:

"The Music of Chance" & "The New York Trilogy" ~ Paul Auster.
"The Ground Beneath Her Feet" & "Haroun and The Sea of Stories" ~ Salman Rushdie.
"The English Patient" ~ Michael Ondaatje.

Here are some work of fiction that I enjoy reading:

1) Lord of the Rings
2) The Holy Bible
3) Gone with the Wind

East of Eden by John Steinbeck

Theodore Rex by Edmund Morris

Paradise of the Blind by Duong Thu Huong [Vietnam uber alles! ;)]

Those are three very good books I've lately. Currently reading The Grapes of Wrath. After that I plan to delve into The Great Gatsby, which I never finished reading. And then perhaps the Good Earth, by Pearl S. Buck which Ive had the fortune of skimming through at the bookstore, but not being able to buy it. :(

Lord of the Rings

and to pick can't really pick others...I usually like most books I read.

oh, and then there's

Into the Unknown...greatest book ever published. ;) (click the link in my sig).
