Which Caesar do you think is better, Julius or Augustus. I think it is Julius (though I have never played as Augustus) While they both get Imperialistic Organized is great for maintaining that huge empire you get. What do you think

They're both fantastic, I can't pick one.

Julius can get a big empire one way or the other and afford it easily. ORG is the ideal trait to make a Praetorian rampage affordable: When the focus is still on hammers and a deficit is supported by spoils, pillaging, extortion etc, ORG remains in full effect. Other economic traits... not so much.
So: Praetorians or IMP defines our play, ORG gives it the best possible support.

Augustus can spam wonders without neglecting expansion too much by whipping Settlers and overflowing into wonders. Praetorians simplify defense, allow us to go on the offense if warranted and if not... well, they'll keep. We can collect classical wonders without totally wasting our UU.
Of course, we can play an aggressive game and use IND sparingly for economic support (failure Cash, Oracle for trade fodder)... but usually I'd prefer playing Julius to that.
Hence, with Augustus IND tends to define my strategy, IMP reduces concessions, Praetorians give me peace of mind.

I love Industrious. I enjoy having the trait and getting wonders, cheaper Forges (nearly every city gets one).

Problem is, Praets and Organzed are bread and butter. Even at low levels, where Organized isn't as important, you appreciate having it when you're going on Praet Rampage.

I love Industrious, but picked Julius. Caveat: On Archipelago, I'll take Augustus.

Augustus, organized lets him spam cities just like Julius (although not as fast but still pretty good). He also has cheap forges which are essential in almost every city.

Although Organized is very good for the courthouse hammer reduction, I think Industrious is slightly better due to how well it facilitates an easy cultural win. So, Augustus

Augustus. Period. I like warring games with the Romans, and Ind allows me to grab the early commerce wonders to pay for the bills.

I think they're equally good at what I use them for.

AC rules when doing the wonderspam/specialist economy for a more peaceful game.

JC rules for praet-stomping and conquest/domination games.

Can't really pick one over the other.

I'm not sure what this poll is supposed to prove, since the choice should be player and map dependent.

Caius Octavius ;) More flexible overall than Julius ... well, than the BtS Julius I mean. I would pick Vanilla Julius over AC everyday ...

Since when is IND more flexible than ORG?

AC is probably better on low-mid difficulties, where ORG doesn't do as much to help. On higher difficulties, where both civic and general city maintenance start actually hurting a bit, ORG's bonuses are far more welcome.

You don't need wonders to pay the bills, and while they are nice for that they run counter to prats. In the rare times where early war isn't possible, AC can still come out behind if it turns into a hardcore expansion game ---> JC has cheaper lighthouses to boost GLH, and has some inherent bonuses for massed expansion.

Not that either is bad. They're both good actually.

I'm not trying to prove anything I just wanted a poll for players to voice there opinions about which one they like better most of the time.

Pre-BTS Augustus was the best.

Well you know what? Some people think Hannibal should have erased Rome off the map before these two jerks were born .

Just kidding , I have to go with Julius. Organized increases reduces civic upkeep, and increases courthouse production. This means easier REXing when combined with the Imperialistic trait.

haha, Hannibal wouldn't have had a chance.

Actually Hannibal had a chance to raze Rome after he crossed the Alps and destroyed a huge Roman stack. But he decided to wait for capitulation instead. Unfortunately for him Rome never reached their capitulation threshold, they just spammed units and eventually Hannibal lost.

 You know we could release a book called "The History of the World: In civ terms"
That would be a good read for example-The romans used the awsome power of Praets to build a huge empire but there economy crashed due to maitinence. They could of gone on if they built Courthouses and Forums and built the Forribiden Palace.

They simply made a colony, the bizantines :p not good strategy, cause the main empire was pillaged by raging barbs

Agreed. ORG trumps IND in my book, and since that is the only difference that matters, that is all this poll really boils down to... which trait is better.
