Which computer system should I be upgrading?

This is my system. It is on the lower rung of good systems, so maybe it'll give you a jumping off point... By the way, Civ IV runs perfectly.

Intel P-4 HT 3.0GHz
2.0 GB Corsair DDR-RAM (4 x 512 MB)
256MB GeForce 7600GS

You can buy this system for 450-500 dollars.
Pretty similar to the one I suggested. :) but AMD is better value in this class.

Whatever you do, don't get Intel. Get AMD.
The only Intel core I'm partial to is the Quad Core, and that's only until AMD releases theirs. Intel cores are just rip-offs.

Like Abegweit said that is not true at all. As i said at the lower end i do think AMD's are the better buy, but the E6320 is the best prossesor on the market, it overclocks like a dream, and is very energy efficent. Like i said you can often overclock it to 3.2 or more. you should read the link i posted in my first post about CPUs

To the person who originally asked this question:

When running Civilization IV, you will see little difference between an AMD processor and an Intel processor. That kind of stuff is for very high-end games, like Crysis and such.

Make sure that your cables have no kinks in them. Everyone knows that computers work using binary number system, 1s and 0s. Zeros are round, and can roll down the cables with no problem, but the 1s are elongated and get trapped in the kinks, making a data clog which slows down the system. Straight cables = no data clog.

But don't use the zip ties too tightly or you have the opposite problem, the zeroes get stuck and the ones can squeeze through. Also, if you have more than one computer, don't put them too near each other in case of virus spreading.

And someone told me my computer was 32 bits, but when I opened up the case there were well more than 32 bits inside. Result!

I don't know if computer virus can spread by this way  .

Nope, only biological viruses can spread that way!

My computer's about 960 billion bits.

 Haha, I'm pretty sure binary 1's and 0's don't have the same shape as their Arabic numeral equivalents ;)!
