My favorite is the Rise of rome...

Second is the age of discovery.

Third I guess is the Mesoamerica, but i had to add hundred more turns to it :D .

Fourth is the Second world war thingie...

I haven't tried the mesopotamia conquest yet...

Middle ages is just one big mistake. Arabs and christians using same kind of medival infantry! and pikeman! so I had to add some more turns and graphics to it. just to make it fun!

oh.. and fall of rome was great to! :D

My favourite is the Rise of Rome !
I have been currently playing The Fall of Rome for some time and it seems good to me as well.
I don't like modern times such as WWII. Generally I don't like history since 14th century.
It is because we know a lot about these "newer" times than about "dark" times. And I like myths and legends.

So far I've tried three scenarios.

Mesopotamia: Fun, but I need to play much more aggressively. I won as Egypt at Regent, but didn't have as strong a lead as I wanted - I only had a couple Wonders, conquered the Phoenicians very late in the game, got my Golden Age too late to do me much good. Next time I'll play as Egypt again, expand much earlier, take on my nemesis the Hittites before time runs out.

RoR: Cool! I gave up after a Macedonian city revolted, killing one of my two armies - since the Carthaginians were effectively counter-attacking, I was losing everywhere. All my galleys were sunk between the Carthaginians and Macedonians. Looks like a good challenge, I'll try it again soon.

Middle Ages: I love it so far! I'm playing as the Burgundians. Huge money/tech troubles, but I finally have Feudalism. England is very powerful, became the Holy Roman Empire, wiped out the Celts, built Knights Templar as well. I took over most of France, seized their relic, now I just need to upgrade to Knights (need money! hopefully the Byzantines will pay for Tar once our Tar for tech agreement runs out) and negotiate some RoPs, then it's off to Jerusalem.

I like Rise of Rome. I've played it with both Rome and Carthage. When I played Rome, I tried to make it historically as accurate as possible. On the other hand playing Carthage was fun, because I liked to mess history totally up: Imagine Hannibal would really have conquered Rome!

But I actually like Middle Ages even more, because there are so many different ways to play it. If you play Sweden it's completely different from playing Cordoba, so you can play the same conquest multiple times and it doesn't get boring.

I don't like the military scenarios, because I think Civ's strength is rather building civilizations and not military warfare. There are other games for accurate strategies.

And another point, why is winning so important? For example when I played RoR with Carthage, I was so satisfied to have conquered Rome, so I didn't care that the Persians achieved a domination victory. I think there are other goals that are more fun to achieve than only the game's definitions of victory.

Excellent point... it can be fun to do something completely different, even if it doesn't win any sort of victory. I used to do all sorts of things with Civ II scenarios, especially the Crusades one (you could actually go on a crusade, or just stay home and conquer Europe, or try to colonize all those Mediterranean islands...).

I wish I'd been more aggressive in Mesopotamia less for the score, more because I wanted to fight more with the Hittites (as Egypt).

It's also a lot of fun when the computer surprises you. I'm playing RoR again, as the Romans, and doing very well - but both the Celts and Carthaginians have dealt me setbacks. The Carthaginians have made some fairly major landings, even taken cities, especially in Sardinia, and just as I thought the Celts were broken they flung a new wave of Gallic Swordsmen at me - the maniacs threw themselves at my legions, cavalry, even my Armies.

I also feel kinda guilty about ignoring Cleopatra. :( I'm buddy-buddy with the Persians, who have taken over most of her empire... I just feel I should be doing more to help the pretty girl. ;) If she can hold out until I conquer North Africa...

Doubt it, Egypt starts that match doomed. I put the Pyramids in one of her cities, but it really just makes her a richer conquest, forcing me to subdue Carthage quickly and rush some legions over there to take her best cities before Persia does.

i love the napolianic wars, so fun to have everyone gang up on france and watch the french slowly deteriorate into nothing, then destroying anyone who's not in britan's locked alliance, i like to play Prussia because of the nice crussairs.

Mesoamerica. Short and fun.

Give us a good strategy/analysis :scan: if you don't mind and what civ is the
most fun for you.

I'd have to say my top three are:

Rise of Rome (especially after recently playing Rome:Total War)
Middle Ages (huge)
Napoleonic Wars (pure warfare and diplomacy)

Well, coz... At the start you are weak. The tech race is frantic. I like the enslavement ability (pillagers and warlords). The Romans will win the game before the turn limit (which is set to 150), they earn at least 250 VP by location every turn. That will give them victory by turn 140 (VP by location only). ;)

I have changed my favourite since I last posted in this thread.

My favourites:
1)Napoleonic Europe
2)WWII in the Pacific
3)Rise of Rome

Recently this has been my favorite order of play too :crazyeye: ;) . I'm
playing Nap as Prussia (monarch) WWII as Comm. (diety) and Rise of Rome
as Rome (diety).

the ai really sucks

The A.I. does suck in that scenario, because you rival civs dont upgrade their daimyo. And what about as in all concquest and other playforms, they just dont keep up with their units. For example: i played as the mori, and the takeda army had every tech, money and resource needed to build samurai warriors and the other final units. They attack with ashiguru and stone crosbow.

My favourite is Rise of Rome though I have never managed to win. I obviously need two or three more turns. It’s frustrating of course but I still think it’s the best scenario.

I enjoyed the Shogun Scenario
All Civs having the same units ... so it was more an out strategise the others game.

Have not played any others have opened some and played a bit but got bored.

I'm into exploration type of games ... was disappointed with the America Discovery Scenario

I really like the idea of Sengoku with so many possibilities for wars, Imagine, you attack someone's stone crossbow guys with Samurai Aquibusiers. I Also like mesopotamia cuz' I go over and wipe everyone out on a religeous rampage to find slaves... :goodjob:

My favorite is Napoleanic Europe since its the only one I ever took the time to finish. The rest are still saved from last summer I think. Anyway, I like the Ottomans in the Napoleanic Europe, and the Russians. My second favorite is Sengoku, since most of the units are pretty cool...
