I once got a cell phone that to set up would cost a 100$ about 5$ per minute and you'd have to order them ahead of time, and it was set up so the phone number had to be in my relatives state so I'd be dinged with roaming charges. I extracted the phone battery for later electronics use than threw it away

for me, the worst presents to get are the ones you are supposed to hang on your office/garage wall. The crafty little signs made my some poor houswife that are painted in colonial motifs that say things like "fishing stories told here" or "parking for Penn State fans only"
