I know people have asked a thousand times over which civ your fav to play as but i'm asking which is your fav historically and why.

I Peronnly like the Vikings and the Romans. I like the Vikings becuase i am scandinavian heritage (i'm not sure how much but i do know my last name is Swedish, since i don't care how many people know my name it's Tjernlund). I also just plain fasinated(sp?). I also like Roman history. They did many thing si don't like but i still like them overall.

Even tho i am American i don't like American history all that much. I have seen many mistakes and stupid mistakes(like taking land form the native Americans, slavery, Watergate, Clinton thing etc. etc .etc). I also don't like the biusness with Iraq. I supported the war but they are taking too long to pull out (seems like poor planning to me).

America, of course. I've always been fascinated with the Roman's, the Greek (or Greeks, not sure which one is correct), the Egytpians, and the Babylonians.

I must agree that American history is boring compared to the others - and also had a lot more "d'oh" kinda moments, if you know what I mean. :)
Basically all of the others are interesting to me to some degree, but the most interesting are Russia, Celts, Egypt, Japan, and all four Native American civs.

Personally, it's the greeks and romans for me. I used to love reading mythology when i was younger.

I think Dutch history is cool(how can a small country be so powerful). Of course, roman history is awsome, and the greeks . Asain history is pretty cool(mostly china and japan). However, i don't like Zulu history seems boring, and so is hittie and egypt.

Carthaginians: Brilliant Civ, Just plain cool, nearly destroyed Rome
Iroquois: Nearly achieved social harmony
Mayans: My parents went to Chichen Itza and brought a video camera to film some of their engineering and architecture. My god, those Mayans were SMART people. They even had universities and civil service exams. I think, in the game, they should have possibly been scientific.

I find world war 2 very interesting. therefore my choices are obvious.

American England Germany Japan Russia And i guess rome? i dunno.

Also the crusades are pretty interesting so just add in the rest of europe and the arabic civs.

I personally like the Ottomans.

I'm a big fan of the Holy Roman / Austro-Hungarian Empires.

Gotta love the Hapsburgs!

The Chinese!

All you have to do now is learn how to spell it. ;)

My favorites are Germany, Byzantium, Ottomans and France.

I am a Bulgarian and don't understand why Bulgarians aren't a civ in CIVIII. During our GA in real history we were the third power in Europe after Franks and Bysantium. From the civs included in the game - Carthaginians.

Ancient Era:
Greeks
Romans
Egyptians
Some Germanic tribes

Middle ages:
Byzantium
France
England
Germany
Vikings

Industrial period:
America
England
France (Napolean!)
Native American tribes

WW1&2
Germany
France
America
England
Japan
Italy
Russia/Soviet Union

and then my interest in history dissolves from there.

I enjoy playing as the Aztecs. As I've said before, they had style to burn.
