I really think if you do not have Spirit mana in FFH2 Fire you are doomed. You need Courage to combat Fear when the Horsemen appear.

I also think you need Life and Water, especially if you are a Neutral Civ, to fight the Fires, etc. I used to rush for Pact of Nilhorn, but now I think Tomb of Sucellus is more important.

I have also liked having Nature as well.

Multiple selections allowed in the poll. Apologies if I missed any mana types.

I've always thought of fire as the most important mana type. When possible I construct the eternal flame to ensure that all of my adepts start with fire 2 promotion. When they are mages they have fireball and archmages have meteor. These spells are important in city sieges. I don't even bother building siege weapons most of the time.

edit: When playing an evil civ it is also important to have death mana. Then you can upgrade your archmages to liches effectively giving you extra arghmages (who are also a bit more powerful).

I voted water but perhaps life would have been the best choice, the "hell terrain " is pretty darn annoying if you are the elves.

Water is the most important. Not just for putting out fires, but for Water Walking and teraforming/collateral cold damage (Tsunamis).

Death is just good fun!

law is also handy. With unyielding order you can have cities with no unhappiness.

Bah, my army of demons sent those horsemen packing easily enough, and even reminded the Avatar of Wrath who his boss was, while I, Hyborem, was busy on the other continent devoring the last unbelievers... so who needs mana ?

Mind and Water, as always. Octopus Overlords FTW !
Third choice goes to Fire. I must say that fireballs and meteor showers are not afraid of anything... and spirit mana is probably the worse I know of, since when Altar of the Luonnotar has been changed. Even Dimensional Mana is better, because it allows a cool wonder.

PS: You left out Body, which would be my third choice on par with Fire. Haste, Stoneskin. Regeneration... are we kidding ?

I voted Fire and Mind but I always get Dimensional which wasnt listed. The Nexus is my favorite wonder as it allows my troops to get to newly conquered cities instantly. And i love having my archmages dominating units during a seige.

water and nature for teraforming and law for unylding order for three of my 4 60 pop super cities fire also helps

I only picked one, unless they change the meaning of "most". Water. Fire fighters and terraforming alone make it important to me. I love the ability to create coastal cities and canals as I see fit. Plus, deserts = bad. Too bad I can't get Flood Plains on a Plain...

Law rocks, especially with Unyielding Order (stop dissent), Valor (more xp), and Loyalty (pesty CoD). I like Water (just for Spring) and Death (contagion).
