I voted for Carthage/Phoenicia although technically Phoenicia was in present day Lebanon and Carthage was in present day Tunisia - The connection is that a Phoenician princess named Alyssa settled Carthage.

i would like to see the sumerians for thier religion and being the first civ, there should be some Pacific NorthWest Native american tribes as they were totally different from any other tribal area as they had no contact with meso-america and no agricult but salmonculture they harvested salmon like corn. The NW natives used bone, leather and wood armour much like japanese samurai armour! the Chinook or Hida they made the largest war canoes in North America and loved to raid for women! :D

Turks, Babylon and Vikings definately.

I voted for most but my top five would be:

Bantu/Munhumutapa Empire: The Zulus are a terrible civ to include, but the region needs representing by some more worthy civs.

Iroquois: This is a simple and elegant, if somewhat lazy way of including a range of civs that absolutely must be included if I'm ever to enjoy playing on a world map.

Malay/Srivijaya/Siam: Geographic reasons mainly, but also some great cultures with a rich history.

Turks: Massively important in world history - came a hell of a long way to found a massive empire - an essential inclusion.

Vikings: Another essential inclusion - very influential and also allows "inclusion" of associated modern day countries.

I actually ticked Babylon, then the Iroquios, then I thought the Vikings and my place of birth (Siam) should be in as well. Then I thought, the sioux was (sort of) included in Rise of Nations and I got hooked to playing them so I ticked them too, and I ended up ticking every options.

I'd love to see them all.. but most of all the Mayans, Babylon, and the Ottoman Turks need to be added, in my opinion

Iroqouis and Maya so N&S America each have 2. Celts because I am one and could not "not" vote for them. Last Polynesia because they would be perfect for archipeligo(sp) worlds. Give them fishing and sailing to start.

viking 'civilization'? :p

CTP has the Australians..

I can understand why the Australians haven't been added- our history is only 200 years old but the aborigines were here for millons of years so really how can you not have the good ol' Aussies ?!;-)

Iroqoius,Maya & Sioux we need more Civs in the western hemisphere for the world map, Me and my aztecs are too lonely, with only the Incas & americans to fight with.

I think the Sumerians should be in there. They came first, and lasted for about 1600 to 2000 years, which is longer than the Romans did. They were also the first to invent writing.

I'd much rather see the scandinavian civ be called "Scandinavia", than "The Vikings".

A Viking is a Scandinavian/Norse warrior! In civ terms, The Viking is the UU of the Scandinavian civ.

You CAN use the word "Viking" as a name for Scandinavia, but then at most you can mean medieval Scandinavia from the 8th to the 11th century AD. "Scandinavians" is a far better name, since that's what the people of this region of the world have been called for thousends of years. For example, as a Swede, I am a modern Scandinavian, but I am certainly not some sort of "modern Viking".

Shame on me that I forgot sumeria :( ( and certainly some others too )

on the other hand it would be bad for world map players to have babylon and sumeria - maybe a civ "Mesopotamia" instead of Babylon and Sumeria ?
