Which of these is the Best Strategy Game?

There has been a thread about this this week, and we're all bored at work, so here's the poll.

I am going to have to say SMAC, though Civ 4 continues to grow on me.

I tough to choose the best Strategy as I like Civs,Heroes and Heart of Iron. But I easliy vote Alpha Centaui for being the "pink-est" game.

Of the options provided, I voted for Civ4. It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn good.

Still, I voted for Rome: Total War. It's amazing, simply amazing. I can't wait to see the new Medieval version...

Maybe I'm the minority, but IMHO, Alpha Centauri. A number of areas in civ4 are actually not as good as AC.

In terms of realism, all the options are flyweights. Want real strategy games? Try Silent Hunter, Dangerous Waters, Operational Art of War series, Harpoon 3or one of Gary Grigsby's games. Now those can be called real strategy games.

But if I had to choose from that list, I'd take Civ4 and Rome: Total War.

As a game Civ4 is the best.

But when it comes to fluff SMAC is outstanding. The sounds, the movies, the qoutes, no game has as much feeling and imagination as SMAC has.

Rome sucks unfortunately. MTW was better. A new MTW you say/ Better go check the TW site.

Pre patch 1.52 it would have been Civ3, but now Civ4 is best of the list.

No Galciv on the list? Never tried it but very interested in the new one coming out.

Civ4 is very easy to pick up and play, a lot better playable-wise than the other versions.

I would have picked Pharaoh or Caesar III for a strategy-game as well. Great games. I'll definitely pick up Caesar IV this fall!

The only game that can compete with CIV IV imho is Master of Orion II

But anyway, CIV4 has entertained myself for while. But I vote for SMAC, for classical reason
