Total War Vikings! What can beat berserkers and real Welsh longbows? Nichts, Nada, Nothing. What about Total War Medieval where the camels stinketh and afright the horsies away: and where knights sweat to death in the 120 degee F desert of North Africa! Aargh, what am I doing in Civ 4 but being lulled into euphoria by the wonderful music, until modern times when the irritating kitsch arouses my lust to smash and crush things and so I turn off the sound and attack all remaining civs ASAP for a domination victory so I can start over?

Age of Empires 3. Im the only one that voted that. :p

Civ 4 is not close to strategy as in Civ 3. It tells you the battle odds whenver you attack and instead you have to think on Civ3.

Rome: Total War. It combines strategy, with commerce, building, movements, diplomacy all in a TBS map, with pure blood gore, strategic movements, arrows flying, horses dying, hastati marching, barbarians arching all in RTS with an amazing 3D generator. Probably my second favorite game (right behind Stronghold).
After that I'd put Civ3, and then Civ 4. I don't know why, but I like [c3c] more than [civ4]

civ 4 sucks ass

Yup. Especially when your graphics set are screwed and wasting memory on a pice of crap patch to try and stop doesnt work.

I voted R:TW. You should have created a poll without any civ game. And then you would ask which is the best BESIDES civ.

It's a civ forum after all.

I voted for Rome:TW although I think Civ4 is better, I do not know why I did this lol. I am waiting for Medieval version of Rome, sure this would be the best.

I voted Civ2. While I may currently be playing Civ4 and Rome: Total War, they still haven't matched the many years of fun and late-nights that Civ2 used to bring.

Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction.

On the list, most propably any Total War series, hands down.

Ummm.... dude, that game has not ONE element that can be called strategy in it.
It is just BEARLY an RPG. (many say that it does not deserve the title of RPG - but we shouldn't start arguing about it AGAIN kuz it would be off topic)

Though i have to admit it's a damn good game . :)
