Modern Alt-Hist (with a some artistic license thrown in)
Even though Hitler had been assassinated, the Second World War never truely concluded. The world powers slugged it out, but eventually had to return to their corners and recoup. Now, 70 years later, world leaders again grow restless. Resources are dwindling, fanaticism is on the rise, and the quest for power as always overrules the calls for peace and stability. Now the forces of the world are armed with the same WWII belligerance, but also with 21st century WMD's and ancient doomsday relics.
NES City
I guess this would be kind of a combo of CoporateNES and NESopolis. Everyone's in the same urban landscape, and they play the role of various factions such as mega-corporations, street gangs, religious groups, mobs, that sort of thing. And they're all in this turf war to take control of the city. Peeps will have to take over neighborhoods that would be more receptive to their kind (based on wealth, police presence, etc.), and build up their membership/consumer base. Then they can trade and stuff with other factions or enter into a full-on street war with them.

Uh, I came up with this one today so yeah. Basically, everyone plays a program inside the computer world (which is rife with colorful glowies) probably the average Civ player's PC. I dunno, if it needs humor people can play well-knowns apps like firefox.exe or something. And so programs like Word would play like a journalist or a registry cleaner would be the janitor. Or, the Kernel could be a military commander (like in the game). Uh, yeah, let's go make out in a hidden partition.
