don't speak evil of the dead
Ya Owen, behave maturely and call rock guitarists posers for being more popular than you.
^If you feel that negatively, just stay away from the thread. Really, time for you to stop being a d-bag in all my threads as if it somehow has to keep happening, man. I live in the other edge of the planet to you, so give it a rest and move on, regardless of what the issue is in your view![]()
So should this thread's title be changed to: "Which rock guitarists does Kyriakos not like and wants an excuse to complain about?"
Because you know we have a rants thread for that.
Guitarists often are utter posers, so why not ask the question to expose (cough) them
Note that classical-metal hybrid guitarists aren't really meant to be included, cause they are all utter posers anyway
Some candidates, imo:
Slash (Guns n Roses)
Jerry Candrell (Alice in Chains)
Brian May (Queen)
Link to video.
Candrell was hyper-emo.
There is a lot more to being a great guitarist than just playing difficult music on Guitar. The Edge creates good melodies for his band and creates a sound that tons of people want to hear. I'd rather have the Edge in my band and watch its popularity skyrocket than have Johnny Nobody who can "shred" but continue to play in small town bars and go nowhere. If all you care about is playing difficult guitar pieces, you are likely to never have much commercial success.
Pete Townshed? Excellent lyrics, excellent composition, pioneer of the synthesizer, creates gut wrenching melodies.
The ability to play chops fast is one aspect to guitar playing (don't get me wrong) but people that put that above all others combined (or people that even think it's the very most important) are irrelevant to me.
What do any of these attributes have to do with playing the guitar?
Would you seriously take johnny may-or-may-not-be-the-Guinness-world-records nobody over someone who is a refined and extremely talented musician?
