When I look at this list, I feel I'm most intrigued by the remaining game modes. The nature of other options is kinda familiar, you know at least the direction of your expectations. But with the game modes... The first two are so wacky (and the second one sounds so much better than the first) that I'm completely at a loss of what to expect next :)
And I'm very much looking forward to March next year, when I can play a game with all of them on :crazyeye:

I have to be honest, at this moment New Game Modes is winning (16/39%) and that shocks me. I was not expecting that. Seeing New Civs almost tied for top makes sense. In my head, I assumed it would be Civs>District>Leader>Wonders.

This is obviously a very small sample size so far, but I am surprised. Not surprised about being in the minority about new maps though. I'm one of the ones who bought the map pack for V and would gladly buy another all map script DLC.

I am also a little surprised that no one has mentioned city states yet either, it seems to me that dlc city states are pretty good and usually offer interesting bonuses.

My opinion would change if it is new map generation options vs. pre made ones. I like the feel of playing on a map nobody has ever seen before.

Actually, new maps would have been my second choice of the available ones.
Like, SammyKhalifa, it would have have to be map scripts, though, not pre-made maps.

I still miss Civ5’s “Europe” map script that always generated the same land/sea distribution, but with random details that made the map highly replayable. It was a great script!

Yes, that, and also 'Scrambled Nations' and 'Scrambled Continents'. I just could not get enough of scrambled Australia, for some reason. Usually I'm not very much into pangaia maps, but this one gripped and held me :)

Game modes.

As Secret Societies includes new units and buildings and governors, it shows that the game modes can have quite a lot of content.

Also the next modes are supposed to be more historical.

So a military or world war game mode could have stuff like riflemen for example.

And commerce-themed mode could have some tariff/colonial buildings or districts.

My first impression was that you had the option to accept or refuse when it first comes available, with no choice to go back and change your mind either way later.

Major fixes and System overhauls. But since none were announced, it’s the game modes, as they provide more variety.

Also I believe they’ve said that the free in-between patches will contain more stuff like even more optional game modes

Definitely the civs, but the second on my list would be new wonders to wonder-monger. :D

I'm always keen to see more Civs thrown into the pot.

However, the new district (after the one announced with the Ethiopia pack) has left me wondering what on earth it could be. It seems that most of the key elements of the game have one associated district. Maybe some sort of vertical farm for insane food production? A weather machine district to alter the city's underlying tiles? * shrug *

Food would make sense if it wasn't already easy to get. Even then I think a revamped Aqueduct would fit that just fine.

The only thing I can think of would be some kind of Tourism district which would be different than the Theater Square as it wouldn't rely on culture. Maybe like a casino building with tourism based on gold output or a theme park with tourism based off of amenities.

As much as I would like a Medical District I'm not sure what it would do in a game without a disease/pandemic game mode. I could still see a hospital building being added in the game mode though, just how we got unique buildings in the secret society that wasn't previously announced.
In fact I guess there's nothing stopping them from putting a whole district locked behind a game mode either if they can do buildings, improvements and units.

Not interested in new civilizations because I haven't played most of the original ones. But great people need a buff. So 1 more per era would be nice so after the first 2 go by, you can't know for sure what the 3rd one will be.

I mostly play peaceful and tall, so city planning is where most of my decision-making occurs. New districts have the biggest impact on city planning, so they're the new feature I get most excited about.

Really hoping for more Earth-based maps. We have Europe, S-E Asia, and the entire world. With more American and African civs being introduced I would love maps (and true start maps) for those two continents as well. We definitely have enough civs to support it.

I would gladly purchase a DLC that included official Large TSL and Huge TSL earth maps. Extremely low probability of happening though.

As MrRadar and SammyKhalifia have already pointed out (and I was assuming with the OP);2 new map scripts will be awesome. 2 new pre-made maps, not so much. I truly hope they are scripts. Or at least one of them.

For me, I am most looking forward to the new game modes. We still have 4 to go. I am hoping we get some more historical game modes, maybe one that deals with revolutions and civil wars, pandemics, diplomacy or maybe one that makes combat more epic. In any case, I look forward to seeing all the game modes. With a total of 6 game modes, we should be able to mix and match the modes to create some really interesting game experiences. The ability to customize our game experience will be really cool.

Looking forward to the game modes, as I voted. Hoping for a Civil War/World War late game one for sure.

But I’m also really excited about new Civs (Italy!) and Wonders too (Bauhaus anyone?) and even the City States as I love their flavor.

Unfortunately for Africa we'll only have 7 (I'm including Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kongo, Mali, Nubia, Zulu) and it wouldn't be enough for the standard 8 unless we get another.

I love TSL maps. Unfortunately, I find that the current TSL maps suffer from not enough space for civs. You frequently start a game with another settler just 1-2 hexes away. Some civs get wiped out on the first or second turn because there is nowhere to settle. And the Earth map, the Italian "boot" is only like 3 hexes big. It's insanely too small. I think the maps need to be bigger. Now for an Earth map that might be hard to do but a regional map like Europe could work if it was bigger. Bigger maps would also allow for more room for the tactical combat to work really well.
