We've all had many games under our belts by this point. I was just wondering what victory type people prefer.

Just won a religious victory as Spain in the 1500's, I could have done it earlier if I was pushing hard. Problem with this kind of victory is it doesn't feel very satisfying. I like to play well into the Information age. I think I'll disable Religious victory and cultural victory from now on. Although cultural victory can be more fun, and I usually enjoy going for that one. Religious victory seems broke right now, since the AI seems weaker on the religious front post Australia summer patch. My answer so far is cultural victory. But part of me feels old school, and feels only science and conquest victories should be enabled (although of course conquest victory is not even close to be as involving as Civ2 conquering every city on the planet).

edit: Yes I know I'm calling it conquest victory, I noticed the proper terminology is domination victory. But I still feel this game needs a domination victory a la Civilization 4. You listening Firaxis?

On a side note, which victory video do people prefer? I still feel science is best, but I like cultural and conquest a lot. The religious video needs some serious work. Pretty shoddy compared to the other ones. Would be nice to see Firaxis beef up the religious video, but of course that should be far down their list of fixes.

And has anyone ever gotten a score victory? Is there even a video for that one?

Science because at least it feels like I accomplished something. Domination is somewhat satisfying because you see your empire expand but the AI is pretty much a pushover once you've conquered even one other Civ. Cultural victory feels somehow worse than Civ V despite being largely unchanged. Religious victory is just buying more religious units every turn and waiting for them to sail around the world to slightly increase your presence. It's very dull to me and honestly a lot easier to just kill everyone with a religion and convert the remaining religionless Civs.

It's sad because I've wanted a true religious victory since Civ IV but this feels terrible

I've always preferred Domination type victory in Civ games, but unfortunately it isn't too fun in Civ VI. The AI is so easily steamrolled, it becomes boring because the game is basically won very early on. It's funny because CiV had the same issue after artillery and flight, but the early game at times it felt like banging your head against a wall. I wish at some point they get this right.

I just play multiplayer now. Religious victory is out of the question. I normally go for domination/science, in games with friends I'll go for culture.

I miss diplomatic victories though, that let me roleplay my civilisation a bit more. Not that I went for them in serious Civ V multiplayer.

I prefer Religious Victory because game length is more optimal for my taste. Science victory takes too long and I don't want to play 300+ turns. Culture victory is too passive/builder for my taste and also takes long. Domination is too involved; I don't want to manage more than 20 cities.

I also like religious victory because it is kind of a mix between faith & domination victory; it favors war and combat but you don't have to go ALL the way there and annihilate everyone like Domination.

The downside is the AI is currently terrible at religious warfare. It is good at generating faith at higher levels/mods, but will still suicide attack its Apostles and not be very strategic in spreading its religion. Once they patch/fix that, Religious victory will become more challenging and I am super excited about that.

I like all the victory types apart from score. Domination to some degree is the easiest way to get the others but gets not to be such a challenge, especially now the AI put up a little bit more of a struggle.

I got a score victory on a large map at 3100 points, could have been more but I really lost the will to live with it after a while. Too many cities and really long turn times just down to management rather than slow computer. It put me off score victories.

I voted cultural because there is such variety in how you can get it. It also is about thinking ahead. If you decide, right I need more seaside resorts to win you just wasted 30 turns, you really need to be thinking 30 turns before at least that with x cities and roughly y tourism needed we need to start thinking about the seaside, looking at the appeal lens and pathing up to eiffel.

Science is great but its a one trick pony, rinse and repeat.

Domination is where my heart is and there is good troop types and variety in way to go but the challenges for me in domination are all tactical and I like strategy more nowadays.

Religion , I preferred V, there is less strategy when passive spread is too weak. There is some interesting ways to get there with the dom strategies being best. I like it where Inhave a few light cav hanging around and when a flood of missionaries/apostles come nearish I declare war amd killing them removes their religion from nearby cities. Similar to a martyr strategy but easier and more satisfying that playing the suicide squad. Yerevan just makes the strategy simpke and dull as to a degree does taking a city then using an inquisitor. The way a religious war was intended can be fun but also is hard work and a little fiddly.

Cultural is my favorite, though I agree with DuetschDachs that it's less satisfying than Civ 5's. Tho some of the changes make it more balanced (and more viable as a victory condition in multiplayer), it also loses some of the adrenaline of manuevering great musicians in for that last push, snatching some artifacts from the airport, or getting that critical wonder (unless you are gambling on the Eiffel/Redeemer/seaside resort combo).
I do like the addition of parks and seaside resorts. I'd like the cultural wonders like Hermitage to get buffed and have theming bonuses. Now they aren't worth building over just doing some projects.

As for the others - science is too 'hit next turn' for me as is. I think if anything, it's due for a new approach.

Domination I only enjoy on smaller maps. It gets tedious for me otherwise (it did for both 1upt and civ 4 stacks of doom - frankly, Civ has never been my goto to satisfy combat urges).

Religion still feels half baked. I think it should have some more ways of spreading it (trade routes, televangelist) and be retooled for added complexity, and less straight 'busyness'.

I generally have a mix where science is the default win condition I try to achieve but I will also have a religion and I'll defend it - and sometimes will find that going to a religious victory is easier. At some point I will work on culture too so sometimes I manage to get a cultural before I get all the projects. What I like is that I will not get an accidental cultural or religious victory while working on a science - but I can go this way if projects take too much time. I did not get a conquest victory yet but I don't usually go for it. I also play at warlord which allows me more freedom.

For me, I dislike Religion and Domination. They both involve too much unit movement management, which gets tedious in the long run.

Science is like the Civ V diplomatic victory. One is a gold contest and the other, a production contest.

So I prefer the Cultural Victory. And there are several ways to pursue it. You can focus on Wonders, focus on Great Works, focus on Cultural tile improvements and National Parks or a combination of the three.

I went for Science Victory - its fun and the AI can be a real nuisance, er, challenge late in the game.

trouble is I keep getting that pesky Cultural Victory video blurting out about a dozen or so turns before I launch my last Mars doo-dah. Rustles ones chuddies to say the least.
