w00tage! It's alive!

I downloaded Dwarf Fortress once but I didn't (bother to) understand it. Went back to Hack-likes.

...what?

Unless that is the problem you're talking about. ;)
Not just the anachronism. :lol: His stats are really for a Head of State's (Stern Imperialist). Of course, I might not have read the wiki well enough and I might have missed that Stern Imperialist is in the default repertoire of Minister of Security traits.

I too gave up very quickly. Think it took longer to generate the world than i did try to play in it!

The latest version allows you to make super small worlds which take literally seconds to generate. I am currently playing on the next to smallest world size and it helps lag problems alot. I came across a problem with my current fort. I set a random cage trap in the woods and now I have 10 pet foxes. Since they aren't tamed, everytime I let one out it causes problems for everyone so I hired a special guard, named his profession Foxclubber, and make him stand next to the fox cages at all times.

TBH I tihnk it only took about 10 minutes at most... if they can use sprites, why not change everything to a better graphical base?

@flyingchicken: the answer to your title is 2/15 (1 + x)^(3/2) (-2 + 3 x). That was fun.

Because sprites defeat the purpose. Rougelikes are meant for you to imagine things like you want them. If everything looked the same it is just another ordinary game.

edit: This is important. It seems sieges/ambushes come early. I only had 18 dwarves when this came. They killed my only soldier, Foxclubber, I have like 8 goblins trapped in cages and my draw bridge has saved me long enough so I can get myself a few crossbows and bolts made to shoot at those dirty invaders! It is playing out like a movie right now. My macedwarf ran across the draw bridge to hold them off while I pulled it up. He was killed by a group of 5 goblins. He tore ones head off when his weapon was knocked out of his hand.

@jalapeno_dude: :lol: I was never good at calculus.

EDIT: Attention all you people who want grand-strategic-level maps for their NES war planning, you might want to check this page out.

3 Ambushes later and I am down to 5 working dwarfs and 4 children. Note: When playing Dwarf Fortress, no matter how defended your fortress is (I had over 30 traps in the only entrance) your dwarfs are not immune to making stupid actions. 1 baby gets dropped during the run indoors and the whole fort rushes out to save it. The resulting blood bath, 3 more dead adults, 1 dead child, 6 dead human merchants and dozens of animals.

Why Are You Not Sending Orders Luckymoose for bird's nes!!!

I'm glad to hear that you will send them.

Tis rather rude and inconsiderate to hold everyone else up though

Not me, but everyone else in your cradle, certainly.
