While We Wait: Part 4

Yes, I agree Charles Li has improved, and I actually enjoy playing with him. But he still has alot to learn but at least he is willing to listen and cut back on the spam and useless questions.

sp1023, on the other hand, I get fed up with him sometimes.... he asks questions that dont even have anything to do with his nation, at least not directly. I mean Greece doesn't need to ask France whether it will invade Greece becuase Great Britain and France are at war. That is a stupid question as Greece is not even connected to Great Britain. (the only post that made me very fed up at him.) The others were more understandable but still stupid.

how old is sp1023 anyway? Is this becoming too user specific? or does that only refer to making threads about it?

Well, he is one year older, so he is 12... but one day I met a guy to visit my site. He is one year older... And he signed in as 'sp1023'... could he have lived near me... I shall check my NESing site immediatly!

He has said he is 12 before.

Sp and Charles get on my nerves quite often actually. Charles is kinda good until he tries to make jokes, because they end up being misspelled and sucking.

Sp doesn't read threads, nor does he use his brain. Not great traits.

BUT, I don't think age is a factor in it. I think NESers with the personality of those two who where 35 would still be wicked annoying.

When the hell did I ask you that?

Is that the link on your sig? If so, that's me alright. I live in NY.

You piss me off too. I don't go about ranting about it!

This thread is getting off topic again. Sp, quiet down and spam less, please. Accepting the legitimate criticism of others is the first step to improving.

To get this back on topic, a theoretical NESing question: If a NES were to be launched where players portray individuals struggling for ultimate power within the confines of a feudal or absolute monarchy, which OTL nation would be most interesting to play? I'd personally vote for Byzantium. Some of their intrigues and court betrayals are worthy of our greatest backstabbing moments.

(I don't have any interest in modding something like this, but it's good to know for future reference.)

This has been tried a dozen times, and has always failed. It's just too demanding on the mod. You're welcome to try again though, and as always there will be a great deal of interest from myself and plenty of others.

Saying he pisses them off and that he is horrible is not a legitimate criticism. And it is no step in improving.

as for your second thing, Nessos would be best for that :)

Nessos definitely deserves a restart. Someone go drag BananaLee out of retirement! It seems like a well-done "one nation" NES should have a very low stat to story ratio.

As for me, TNESII: The Sorrowful Mysteries is entering pre-production. Reservations at the coat check, please. ;)

Byzantium is plausible.

However, I'd like to suggest Feudal Japan as an alternative. Could be interesting because all of the factions nominally gave allegiance to the emperor, but were effectively free to do whatever they wanted otherwise.

Don't you already have another NES? Big one?

And I think I'll try working on rules for a NESsos, but don't get any highs ups... I probably won't finish it ever...

I believe this was tried once with EQ, it failed mainly due to not enough player support. He did an European style monarch.

Feudal Japan might allow too much freedom. If the higher power (the emperor in this case) doesn't impose any real obligations, then the differences between such an NES and any other is fairly trivial. "Warring clans squaring off for ultimate supremacy" is what we do in all our games; only the enforced cooperation of a meaningful feudal system makes it a class apart.

You know Thlayli, I still haven't forgiven you for Malaya. That truly was a sad chapter. Otherwise, I remember something that I believe Gelion began to flesh out- that Roman Empire thing.

I'd go for the Byzantine Empire.

I mean, come on, we get our awesome adjective "byzantine" from all that intrigue and stuff.

You mean how he never updated your part? I disliked how thlayli kept on updating Europe since by the time he reached Asia, he was too tired to do our parts of the updates ;)

Ah, but who says the Emperor has to remain a figurehead ;). If enough NESers can cobble together a coalition, they could install another NESer as Emperor, who would need to juggle his constituency and keep it together to hold against those who would oppose his imposition... etc etc.

Could work. Joe's for it.
