While We Wait: Part 4

Hey guys, Nuclear kid and I will soon be leaving for a trip, and on that trip, we will be in Rome. We decided the best way to remember this trip was to get excomunicated from the catholic church by the pope himself. We will attempt to do this in Rome as local stuff might catch the Pope's eye. We don't want to go to jail. Besides that, pretty much anything goes.

Any Suggestions?

I'm a bad person because I really don't read much outside of KOTOR, Legacy, Amazing Spider-Man, and (New) New Avengers. I keep/kept up with the big story arcs like Civil War, World War Hulk, and Secret Invasion (Nick Fury returns?!?).

You have to be Catholic to be excommunicated.
 
I'm a Catholic myself, but I was going to try and talk them out of it. There's the matter of fact that God might actually exist...
 
I was trying to be witty. I'm not sure how good I am at it, but I was making an attempt.
 
well, we are both catholic, more or less forced, so what better way to get out of it by being excommunicated by the pope?

What if God actually existed? I've checked it out myself, and there are historical arguments for the idea. If so, then getting excommunicated would be quite bad for your soul.

If you don't think the Catholic beliefs are true, why not just leave the religion?

I highly recommend against doing it. Even if you ignore the rational arguments for the existence of God, there is a high risk of getting arrested with the sort of thing I presume you are likely to try.
 
Warhead, it's not worth the effort. For another thing, with most methods you have to be persistent to get yourself excommunicated. There might be ways of doing so without it, but I don't think you'll find any your'e willing to do.
 
Deny transubstantiation... ;)

Of course it might just make you a Protestant or an Anglican ;)

In practice I think you would only be in danger of being excommunicated if you were a senior member of the Church, ie a bishop or cardinal or were of some significant influence in your local diocese otherwise there is not a hope in hell you’re going to be excommunicated.

You could of course claim the Pope is the anti-Christ which of course is true :mischief:
 
Masada, presumably you have some argument by which you have come to that conclusion.
