hi, I lost at Civ3, so I'm going to find a bunch of superficial things wrong with it, and write a long, angry, incoherent post with poor grammar, because there isn't enough of that available on the net yet.

(kidding)

God forbid anyone to make any substantial critique regarding the game. Why ship a game without netcode? Can you think of an intelligent reason besides rushing the game out the door? That's just plan ignorant. This has been discussed many times but don't harp on people who are just venting thier frustrations with other's. What? You want this to be the 'goody-goody' message board? It's not gonna happen.

This game absolutely sucks until it gets a serious update and most importantly gets mult-player capability.

lc3man,

Would you rather wait another 2-3 months before playing the game?

I personally don't mind them releasing the game early, and let them patch it. Since it gives us time to enjoy the game.

OHHHHH YOUR SO BADDDDDD, SUPPAH COMADY MASTAH

Your gonna show us how to run a message board! Ooooooh lock up the children, it aint gon happen.

Oh by the way the E is backwards in your name :midfinger:midfinger

No matter how much you whine, bit*ch, and moan multiplayer will not be added any quicker so either go away or switch to some other topic.

I am waiting an extra few months actually :)
I understand the desire to buy the game for people who arent gonna mp, but with myself, the only value civ has is in multiplayer, so no point in getting the sp for me;)

I lost at Diety...and loved every minute of it.

I am winning at Chieftain...and loving every minute of it.

I can still see the problems in the game...and love every minute of it.

The game is broken...in places, but works great in others. So if you have a different view from someone else, let them know. Don't think that they should have the same one as you though.

heh Regent and Monarch are fun (still not as good as Alpha Centauri though) but Deity isn't even fun. I am still going to try to win on Emporer before I try Deity again but Deity is just 100 percent pain. Nothing like when I am the only civ with literature for a full 4 turns and have a 10 shield city building Great Library yet another Civ finishes it before I get halfway through 8)

This is a public forum set up to express views on the game. As a consumer, I sure as hell would want to know how others felt about a product before I buy it.

Why are all the idiots out here telling those who raise legitimate shortcommings on the game told to get out and shut up? Why are you depriving possible consumers of a valuable point of view? Its like telling all the people who praise the game to shut up and play it rather than advertise for Firaxis on these boards.

Both are equally ridiculous.

If you don't agree with the *****ing, why the hell do you care, you obviously enjoy the game. So tell them why you think the game is enjoyable so the next guy can use both points of view to determine whether to buy the game or not.

But just telling people to say nothing if it ain't nice comments is just stupid, idotic and the result of low IQ.

Totally agree!:goodjob:

As for MP, I think it's good to have, but SP still kicks butt! The sheer number of fans / fanatics proves it.

Great post Mike C!

lc3man...until you get banned for what you believe in I don't respect you much! (it doesn't have to be for life!).

I respect Graham the Mad...he got banned for a week for spamming, something he deeply believed in :D

No problem with a legitimate bug. But I'm sorry, claiming the corruption model is a bug is dumb - It may stop you winning but, so does not being able to build tanks on the first turn.

Ditto the speed of the game. The normal game with 8 civs runs well on a modern mid-range system. I you play with 16 civs on a huge world with a lower spec machine - well that is your look out.

Ditto the lack of resources sometimes - so this time there are very few coal resources - find another way.

Ditto the interface, it is different, but flawed???,Broken??? I'm not sure. . . .

The nastiest bug is the ZOC / air power thing, but if a fix comes quickly then there should be no problem. For now that is a major flaw, but I expect it to be fixed soon.

I have already played civ3 longer than I played those "Strategy" marvels Starcraft, Sudden Strike, Red Alert and Lords of the Realm" They shipped with no bugs because the AI was trivial and the gameplay depth non-existant. I for one am willing to put up with a couple of teething problems for a game that has real depth and can produce marvelous moments that are different every time you play

kitten, until you post something that is more than just spam I don't respect you

At least some of his posts are interesting. So I respect him for that.

Being banned for something is stupid. The rules state what you may and may not do. If you fail to follow them you are not cool, you are a drain on the site.

I just read some of the replies to my comments and have been lmao.

2xHelix - Yes, I would rather them delay this game until they can ship it properly. Instead they wasted alot of peoples time and money, and for me money is time! :)

D_L_26 - Very ammusing. I thought the midfinger thingy was rather special. Oh, and great response, very intelligent.

Yes, until I get banned you will be hearing me 'whine', 'bit@h and moan. So get used to it, your going to be hearing from me quit often. If you don't like it then so be it. I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to warn other's that they shouldn't go out and waste thier money on this game. I would deffinately tell them to buy this game maybe 3 to 6 months from now.

Whatsa matter Iceman, parents not giving you enough attention these days? You are notmakingconstructive criticisms, you are just making an @$$ out of yourselve soyou can get people mad at you and have a smile on your face when you go Jack off.

Perhaps these teething problems should have been worked out with more playtesting? :hammer:

And this is certainly a fair statement. What I do get sick of both here and at Apolyton is the too vocal minority that states "XYZ is broken" without any substantial proof and/or justification. The corruption being the most prevelent example

I also do not have sympathy for the spearman vs tank arguments. You can calculate the odds...... (Galleon vs sub..... different story)

Resources..... I am actually happy that this turns out the way it does - dirtly little secret the USA was a heavy trading partner with South Afrika during its Apartiet years because they control MANY strategic minerals.

So what I am saying here is that there does appear to be some bugs that should have been caught - but the rest of the issues fall very much in line with the stated design of Firaxis.

Edit for grammer
