Something that just occured to me; this has only occured recently, and because it started around the time of the update, I thought that might have been the problem. Now that I think about it though, it is also the time that I started using the mods.

Has anyone heard of something like t his occuring because of a specific type of mod?

The smear on the resources comes definitely from the update.
No real idea though what might causing the other problem (but I'd bet it's also the driver).

Then you're sadly lost .
The only real solution is to update the driver, and since the generic drivers don't work and the laptop manufacturer doesn't provide newer ones, then this means you can't do anything .

Well, that sucks.

As a side note, I started a game without any mods running, and that triangular mess (not the smeared animals) hasn't appeared in 150 turns. Time to start playing with each mod individually to see which one is running when it happens.

is there a way to turn off the animations for the animals? At least i wouldn't have to deal with all that smear nonsense on my computer and enjoy a game you guys are very helpful and I appreciate your help/ideas.

I have a strange graphics problem where moving lines appear on the map. It happened in the original Civ 5, and it persisted when I installed G&K today. The bug started after I installed a mod, but I am not certain if the mod caused it, as uninstalling the mod did not help. Does anyone know of a way to fix it, or do I need to uninstall/reinstall Civ 5?

This problem is not related to any particular savegame, so I attached a screenshot instead.

I tried to update the drivers for my Intel GMA x4500 graphics card, but the Intel driver update program won't work on my computer and when I downloaded new drivers through the Windows 7 Control Panel, they didn't solve the problem. My processor is an Intel Pentium E5800.

How did you set your graphical settings?

I have screen resolution of 1920 by 1080, no anti-aliasing, vsync on, and all detail/quality settings on Low.

that sounds all quite normal .
Are you trying to play in Dx9 or Dx11 mode? I think people mentioned that the latter one worked, suprisingly, a lot better.

Since your card doesn't really support Dx11, you also should not experience any worse graphics elsewhere .

Please add me to the list of those suffering from the "animated resources smear" following the fall patch. Would you mind glancing at my dxdiag and letting me know if there's anything I can do? Thanks very much.

I'm fairly sure my old/pokey laptop should not be running this game, but I figured I'd post anyway. I've had no problems playing the game before the patch, with all the settings turned down.

Also note that the smears only appear when I play under DX11, not under DX9. However, the choppiness and slowdown under DX9 are such that, as the middle/late eras progress, the game becomes unbearably slow, and eventually breaking down. (I can complete games just fine under DX11. Prior to the smears, at least.)
