White lines in graphics / smear on resources

I'm fairly sure my old/pokey laptop should not be running this game

Sadly true, and since the drivers are also up to date (which is quite a surprise), I'd say that you belong to the people who are lost, whose problem cannot be solved .

Ah, well. Thanks for taking a peek. Perhaps, since so many people are having this issue, Firaxis will release a fixer patch in the near future. Or perhaps I'm just dreaming.

(As for the display drivers being up to date, that's a result of me reading through the previous 10 pages of (mostly your) suggestions before posting. Hats off to you for your diligence and patience.)

There were two patches out almost back to back. I apologize for being too lazy to look them up. The first one caused the glitch, but the second one fixed it (at least for me). It is strange that it should linger, unless there is still a corrupted file that may need to be deleted and reaquired. Which file that is may be harder to figure out though.

It could well be, as seeing that I am still using the 11/3/2011 driver with my Nvidea 555M. The newer drivers could still have bugs being worked out of them.

All I know is one Civ5 patch introduced the problem and the next one "fixed" it for me.

Yes I am still hoping too. It' s been a few months now. What I would appreciate is an update from Firaxis or 2K, to say, in my case, they are still working with Intel for a fix, or that it can't be fixed.

Hello there. I'm a long time lurker, and I have been having the same problem as the others on this thread. I unfortunately have not gone through this entire thread, but I have not see anyone handle my exact computer specifications yet. I would much appreciate it if someone could take the time to review my case.

Below is my DXDiag file, and thanks in advance for your time.

Well, poop. My computer had never been considered a high-end gaming machine, but until this last patch came out my computer ran Civ 5 just fine. Now the lines and the associated slowdown renders Civ 5 nearly unplayable on this computer.

Thanks anyway for getting back to me so quick.

I am (recently) forced to play in DirectX 9 as I am getting weird rays streaming from resource tiles in 10/11. WTH err...I mean...help!

Has anyone found a fix for the lines on resources problem yet? Is there any news of a patch that will? I just got the upgrade to ciV gold and hoped that the problem would be fixed by that but it's still the same. The issue doesn't occur in DX 9 but that brings other graphical problems.

See my post 206 above. I would have thought someone from 2K would have posted an update on progress or otherwise.

So I run Gods and Kings on my Sony Vaio, which runs Windows 7. Everything in the game runs fine, but the animals on the normal view stretch across the screen. It's fine if I put it into strategic view, and that's how I've been playing.

Anyone got any help? I was thinking a graphics mod might help, but I wasn't sure.

This is usually a problem with old graphics drivers. Try updating them.

I've had this problem where my game shows tiles with red spots and stretched out resources for a few months now, which makes it really hard to try to play as it's just so distracting. I tried reinstalling Civ 5, nothing changed, but I saw this thread on google and saw something about needing to post the dxdiag.

Here's mine, I guess, but if I need to do something else to get help on how to fix that I'll do it, I've been wanting to play Civ 5 in preparation for A Brave New World for a while now.

I had that problem with my old computer until I switched to playing on Dx9 instead of Dx 10/11. Apparently this is a problem with old graphics drivers, because I don't have it on my new computer.

I was originally playing on DX9 before, but now I can't as the images for loading screens, civ backgrounds, technology images, unit images, and etc are all too small and don't fit their respective boxes. It's equally distracting, and makes it unbearable to try and play with.

This is my same exact problem. My graphic driver is up to date.
