Who-1 A new era has begun!

First thing: we are cultural, philosophical and have marble around. This is great for a shot at a cultural victory. Islands are good for that too as you need less military for quite some time. But this kind of victory needs a wee bit of dedication from early on. You have to plan for it.

Second: all round city planning and building was far from optimal. I wrote a few things about that aspect earlier on. I couldn't see any real city specialisation, too.

Third: growth was far from optimal, too. We had many small cities, some of them were hardly able to pay for themselves. This crippled our research.

All in all the map wasn't easy. Island starts are never easy and in addition to that we had many brown tiles and few green tiles around. Green tiles are definitely more powerful.

It seemed to me that some of the participants used the governor to choose the worked tiles and even more for build orders. The latter is really bad. You definitely need an aim for any city and absolute control over build orders to achieve this goal. The former isn't that bad as it was in Civ3, but you will still be more effective if you do this stuff all by yourself.

I say we reload this.

It seems Abaddon is lighting up all my old threads. Kids these days.:pat:

:sigh: Three days early... it's too soon to be spotting things like that!
