Who-2 Keith goes to the Moon.

Oops I adjusted the screenshots. Those are the two biggest cities and there are two more smaller cities doing the same thing. I'm not sure whether governor would help but let me know if you figure it out.

On the Aztecs we got lucky twice. Once when Bizzy decided to start a war a few turns before we got there and second when the transport had nothing better to do, before the others caught up, took a peek at what was happening on the German and Aztec coasts. When I saw that the Germans had stacks I knew that would be the place to go. There are a gazillion cavs and such running cover to our new city. I was a little nervous landing on desert but there were too many germans distracting the Aztecs. I guess it would make sense the AI will take a straight line to the enemy cities.

@IP it might be worthwhile to turn on friendly moves since I bet the battles that are waged will be fun to watch.

lurker's comment: pure spam. @ IP, you were promoted to brigadier ages ago. U didn't get the memo? don't even think about asking for back pay. BTW, with his promotion, whomp now has the authority to make independent promotions. :crazyeye:

Btw I am still here. I'm just not playing Civ4 much. Whilst I like the game, I don't like the way it jerks around (regardless of graphics settings, memory settings, etc.) once I get past a relatively early date (like, say, 1000BC?!) on a Standard map.

Probably my PC, and ideally I'd just wipe the HD and do a fresh re-install, but I can't find half the license keys to all the stuff I've d/l'ed and I don't want to shell out for new licences right now, esp. for stuff I already own.

@ AK: Oh yeah, I remember that. I'll change that now. :)

I won't get to this until tomorrow, so eldar, if you want to play first you can. What do you mean by jerking around, though?

EDIT: Well, nevermind... playing now.

I did a couple trades, but my comments on them didn't show up...again...

I'll let the next person capture the city (forget the name...) if they want. You may want to wait till next turn for more reinforcements to arrive, but I think you should take it now.

Sorry about all my losses. I made some stupid mistakes, but also the RNG seemed to hate me. A few times my oddes were above 75 or 80% and I lost!

Also, WW is starting to set in. I upped Culture to 20%, so only Beijing and Shanghai have angry people, but each has 3. I don't want to make peace yet, since Monte seems to have lost much of his strength. The last 2 turns have been completely quiet on the Aztec front. Since Bismarck's made peace, it could either mean we'll have many more troops to deal with, or we can take all the cities for ourselves...

 That's a lot of material he threw at ya kid. Can we change civics or is the time off not worth it? I didn't see any aluminum on the island. Did you?
Eldar - on deck
Whomp - Got IP in a mess
IP - handled to mother of all battles
Bede - UP

SW - counting the days.

I was thinking about switching to State Property. One of my favorite civics. No city mainainence costs for distance from capital. With that, we might be able to run 100% science.

Police State would help with the WW, but I don't know if that's worth it.

I didn't see any aluminum on the island. Did you?
Uhh, forgot to check...

Also, if we get a couple more cities from Monte, and can get Mansa to vote for us, we should win this. I don't know why Mansa's not voting for us now, though. He friendly to us, and only Polite to Bismarck.

Got it, play it tonight

Got to watch for those artilery weapons. One suicidal cannoneer and your troops are toast.

Reorganized the forces to reduce exposure to Monte's cannon then razed the town. The cultural coverage is just too great to make it worth keeping.

Turned down the science budget to get rid of unhappy faces. We have a monopoly on a couople of crucial space ship techs and the Elevator will finish in 1. Going to put the economy in war mode for a while.

1936
The first UN vote on my watch and I use it to get a feel of the voting blocs

The next focus is the move on Teno, the Buddhist Holy City, it costs an artillery piece and a tank but falls easily
1939

Push on up the coast trying to beat the Americans to the next town

1941

but they get there afore me and burn the town in 1942

So switch the offensive to the other side of the island

1943

Made another try for the UN victory

We've picked up a couple of votes but we need Mansa and Saladin on our side or a whole lot more peeps

Moved on the new Aztec capitol, the Judaic Holy City after the fall of Calix (took no casualties in that one)
We are going to have to beat the Americans to the city, though it appears they have insufficient force within striking distance.

Somewhere in there a Great Merchant appeared and after a trade mission to Germany netted 2100g put the economy back in guns and science mode. Building temples and jails at home helped and the Space Elevator town is building Mt Rushmore. With those in place, the cash in the bank and careful budget adjustments we should be in good shape. If we get the next city we can probably call the war off, depending on what kind of strength is showing. I have a single destroyer off the coast which was useful in the reduction of Calix. We could use some more bombers but we have a hard enough hitting force that bombarding the city defenses is not all that critical.

FDR is becoming a cultural monster (Washington is legendary) and at one point had three Great People in Washington. Mansa is in another Golden Age so will be catching up in cash and science so watch him carefully.

Nice, nice. It looks like we have a shot at this thing if we don't run out of time.

Good job Bede! I guess the Aztecs must be running out of steam.

If we can get Mansa to vote for us, we win. Is he already at war with the Aztecs, and if not, can we ally with him against the Aztecs? That would boost our relations and may be just what we need to have him vote for us.

We could also just give him some free stuff, but I haven't had much success with doing that in my games.

Since Eldar hasn't hit this thread I will pick this up tonight. Picking up all the Aztecs cities wouldn't help our vote much either unless Mansa is on board. I will see what I can do about that.

Turn 362 (1952 AD)

Ha! Who knew?!? I thought I made a picture of the vote and I didn't even save before 1952 so 1950 was the best save I have. Oops. We won by UN when Mansa changed his vote with the war against Bismarck being the kicker. It feels a little cheesy but that was a lot of work. I think winning on a continent by yourself is proving to be a mighty tough task. Thanks for joining in on this with me. Always fun!

Thanks for the fun and games.

I have been unable to pulloff the let him and you fight ploy ever, so it was good to see it worked by somebody.
