Who can you trust?

I trust the civs who are friendly and not coveting my lands.

That.

A few civs are generally more likely to backstab than others, but none of them are programmed to be your best buddy no matter what. If you aren't nearby you can get along, and if you are things will go south. It doesn't matter who the civ is, they're all the same in that regard.

To OP: I've had Oda DoW on me while we were fighting a war with another civ that we agreed on together. Not that this is remarkable because all civs will do that, the point is he's not an exception.

Napoleon, Odu, wu zi ti mi , montezuma, cesar
That are the most loyal people i have ever played with...
Montezuma sounds wierd but if he is your friend he will not betray you.

people you never should trust: siam(especially him he is a .... ), polynesia(he denounce you for lol),iroquouis, spain, washington(he plays diplomacy as a child)

But mostly every AI will hate you over time if you are going to win of becoming to strong...

Keep in mind that they made this AI wants to win so there is actually no diplomacy in this game its just a feature that they put in that doesnt fit with the AI behavior just dont know why they put in diplomacy in it if they are going to use this typ of AI.

I agree with everything but the last paragraph. Generally, the warmongers have more "honor" than the weasels/peaceniks like ramakhaka and gandhi. I've never been backstabbed by oda, monty, ceasar, etc, even when my army was far away and they could have a clear advantage by doing so.

I trust the Ottomans. Always friendly, that Suleiman.
However, If there's one person I DON'T trust it's Nobu. that guy means it when he says "the world will know of your sins." Within the next 5 turns, everyone's denounced you.

I doesn’t matter who they are, it matters where they are - the closer a leader is to you the higher the chance the bastard will stab you in the back

He probably says denounce him or i will do hararkiri !!!!!!!!

There is a list somewhere that says what paticular values are associated with each leader, including backstabbyness.

Apparently Ghengis Khan is on the not so likely to backstab you list.

Egypt never backstabs me. Then again, it never amasses an army...

Don't trust Ramesses, he declared on me with an RA going on and I had only one city.

Maybe Monty and Nappy talked him into it, because they declared as friendly as well, WHILE fighting Suleiman.

Irrational, that is what a CS can be, but AI...now we know. :) Skip those wonders and build some warriors instead. They'll come for you in every game on Immortal.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Germany.

Bismarck always seems like a solid ally to me.

Just an idea that came into my mind right now: Is there any linkage between backstabbing tendencies and the love for the honour SoPo tree? Would be nice, if true...

But then, if I read the chart, Oda has a *low* loyality, but usually follows the honour tree.
(Is "loyality" the only factor for backstabbing at all?)
