No it doesn't; no, it's not; no, it hasn't.

Are you denying that its not half finished, not bug riddled, multi player works like a charm and is completely balanced? I suppose you find the game immensely exciting with incredibly good AI.

If you are willing to put up with this half baked garbage called ciV then that's your choice. It certainly does Firaxis and the general gaming community no favours by rolling over and accepting this disgrace.

Its the responsibility of any true fan of Civ to stand up and tell Firaxis and 2K Games in no uncertain terms that this product is completely unacceptable.

I'm a true Civ fan. To Firaxis and 2K Games: Well done! I love it! It's just what I've been waiting for in this series! Game has some bugs to be worked out. Multiplayer could use a slight overhaul. Some AI tweaks here and there. But all in all it's a quality game that I'm getting tons of enjoyment out of. Again, well done!

I haven't decided yet whether it has been dumbed down because I think we should wait for a couple patches to see if they correct much before passing final judgement. That said, the AI seems to not understand the 1upt system at all, or have very distinct "personalities."

There are a few easy things they could do to increase this games playability though:

1. Reduce maintenance cost on everything. Roads, railroads and many buildings cost waaaay too much.
2. Allow me to look at a conquered city before I choose to annex/raze/puppet it. And, should I decide to puppet it, give me final approval of a new building. I don't need to pick what they do, but I do want to be able to tell them they can't put in that theatre they always wanted. They are my puppet after all.
3. Courthouses should not take 25+ turns to build. Get This fixed.
4. Allow stacks up to 5 in cities, and allow multiple units to occupy the same hex in friendly territory, but only one may attack from that hex per turn. It is really annoying to try and move along my roads when only one military unit can end its turn in a hex.
5. Change the algorithm for culture so that expansion is not so unbelievably detrimental to a cultural victory strategy.
6. Either reduce how long units take to build, or increase how long tech takes to research. It is annoying to just finish my first swordsman only to have longswordsman be discovered 2 turns later.
7. No more buying map hexes. Just let me pick a new hex every time my culture expands my border.

That's your choice. If you want to validate this shoddy product then I can't stop you. It is a disservice to the community and Civ players everywhere, however.

That's my new signature, if you may :) (can't put quotes on there).

Certainly. :)

The message needs to be sent loud and clear to Firaxis and 2K Games that Civ players aren't going to roll over anymore.

Oh, because anyone who doesn't agree with you is apparently committing a disservice to the community and civ players everywhere. Unbelievable.

Accepting ciV in the state its in plus the fact that it was obviously rushed does indeed do a great disservice to the Civ community.

All you are saying is, "We are willing to bend over/roll over for whatever you do Oh great Firaxis and 2K Games. Rush out a half finished product with a plethora of bugs and we'll grin from ear to ear because it's Civ. We will validate your suspect business and marketing approaches so that it ensures that you'll have no problem doing it to us again at a later date."

Please don't put words in my mouth. You are clearly not in a position to be expressing my point of view for me.

That's not true at all. Considering the negative nature and title of the poll, and looking at the posters that that thread is attracting, I'm not surprised at all that the negative votes are increasing.

This (MUCH less biased poll) shows increasing positive numbers all the time:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=382765

How is that less biased? I'd give Civ5 a 'thumbs-up' because I enjoy it and it's a decent game, but it's still dumbed-down and worse than Civ4.

You as well. If you want to accept this half baked, bug riddled, unbalanced, boring garbage that is ciV, then that's your right. Don't let me stop you.

Don't however pretend you or anyone else that validates this woefully substandard product are doing any favours to this community or Civ fans anywhere. It's not much different than the big game reviewers that gave this game glowing reviews. They did a disservice to the Civ community as well by outright lying to us.

Its been said, but again, you should add "In My Opinion." I don't really have a dog in this fight, but its not like you're the emperor of all true civ fans or anything.

That's true. I am not the Emperor of Civ fans or anything like that. However, I speak with common sense backing up my contention.

When you accept a substandard product and don't take the company to task that made this product you are in fact doing a great disservice to yourself and others that have bought the product or are considering buying the product.

You certainly don't help yourself or anyone by accepting what is clearly unacceptable. All you do is ensure in the future that the same thing will happen again. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Firaxis and 2K Games should be ashamed with the product they put out. However, if we accept this product and meekly roll over then we are the ones that should be ashamed.

Well, in my obviously less controverial (and perhaps for this less popular?) poll here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=390297) there are only 3% of respondents who like Civilemon V as is.

We have 40% longing for some of their favorite features from Civ IV. That is the area that is a matter of opinion and taste. But 65% want basic functionality fixed, and want more in-game info on what is happening. And 85% want a smarter AI.

I am willing to give the new game concept a chance, so I am yet undecided about whether that CONCEPT is a step forward or back. But the execution of that new concept, at this time, is atrocious!

A Yugo might be a great car if all you have ever known is your feet or a bicycle. But if you are used to a (Cadillac, BMW, Lexus, etc.) and that company sells you a nice, shiny, well-reviewed ... YUGO ... well, that is a Civilemon, and someone ought to take them to task for it.

(In the US, ? elsewhere, lemon is a term used to describe a new car that won't work)

if this was the first civ ever, it would be a bad strategy game.PERIOD. but it wouldn't be insulting. that's the whole thing. civ fans didn't suddenly become a bunch of children, so why would they think we'd like this dumb, empty and, above all, boring game. why would someone think that after civ iv, and all it's expansions, and all it's great mods, we'd get into that. if they told me this is some kind of eductive games, to teach children in a fun way, i'd ask what exactly do they want to teach children and where is the fun. it's a lame, boring, dumb, and for someone who's been into civ from the first one, damn insulting attempt of a game. just because it's also called civ, it doesn't mean it's a part of the franchise. clearly someone hugely underestimated civ fans. we are not that dumb. not enough to like their game and not enough to say we do just because of it's name. damn shame!
