I would like to do a masters degree in history at some point. My Ba was modular and so covered a rather random selection of topics.
In my first we had to do a module on European history from Rome to the present day(ish). Two modules on USA history from colonisation to present day(ish), a module called the making of the 20th century, which was late 19th century and 20th century history. and russian society in the 20th century. I also did 2 politics modules: britiish politics since 1945 and world politics since 1945.
In my 2nd year I did modern historiography 'the history of history', political communities in 18th century europe- concentrating on those that failed, the carolingians and the birth of europe, China 1914-78, the origins of totalitarianism: lenin and the party-state and a mini-dissertation which i did on the erosion of soviety democracy in the USSR.
in my 3rd year i did rethinking history (more historiography), the first russian revolution (1905), two modules on British fascism and a disseration on british fascism which i did about modernity and anti-modernity in BUF indeology.
I dont really like 'old' history.
