I like having Isabel from spain in my civ4 games. Not bc I'm from spain, but because I think it's one of the more interesting AIs. She loves to war (for divine reasons), but isn't very good at it.
I always put all AIs on random, but sometimes I just select one to be isabel.

But of course, the AIs in civ5 will be different

I´m Swedish so naturally I favor the Vikings, but I still voted for Spain since I consider them more important. Vikings will have to go berserk in a later expansion pack...

I know alot of you will disagree with me, but I voted Korea. Aside from the fact that many Koreans play Civ, Korea is a very interesting, ancient civilization.

On that note, I'm finally finishing the Korean TV series Jumong. I gotta say if you are a Civ fan, you can not miss this series! It is the best TV series I've ever seen, from beginning to end, and I'm on episode 72 out of 81.

Carthage, Spain, Vikings and Persia should be in... But, there are many europeans civilizations, so: Persia or Carthage.

I think that Carthage could be an important city state.

Argh. Why should I choose between Persia, Babylon, Spain and Vikings? Why Firaxis? WHY? :wallbash:
Still I vote for the one of the greatest colonizer, Spain

Agree, a horrible descission.
But i voted for Babylon :).

If only room for one more then definitely Persia.. no question. Can't imagine Civ without them.

Would still suck if Spain and Babylon didn't make the initial cut but common.. no Persia??

I like how this thread has turned into Spaniards voting for Spain, Scandinavians voting for Vikings, most people not from one of these places voting for Persia, and the rabid Canadian diehards voting for Canada. Oh, and the Finns voting for Vikings. Shouldn't they be voting for the Russians? *shot*

"Viking" is an adjective. Of all the faulty naming schemes Civ has going, can we at least name the Scandinavians after their geographical area, rather than their activities in the Dark Ages?

It's sad how many respectable civs Canada is beating. I'd be so annoyed if Canada made the game because, with all due respect, they've done so very little to distinguish themselves in world history. They're already culturally and geographically represented in the game by the Americans and English; they have nothing more to add to the game.

Where are the Canadian nationalists ready to flame and come up with facts straight off of Wikipedia to defend their country, the mounties, and even the Quebecois! Who among you?! :p

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. But I agree. Canada would be an absolute waste.

I'm not Spanish, and I think Spain should be the Civ in.

Scandinavia was never a united political entity. Spain and Denmark were often at war with each other throughout the Middle Ages and they were both separate empires for most of history.

Vikings may not be entirely accurate, but if we're referring to the Dark Ages period of raiders and pillagers, then it's more accurate than Scandinavia.

lol, great statement! :D

However, if Germany wasn't in, I would vote for Germany as well... :shifty:

Scandinavia was never a united political entity.
The Kalmar Union united all the countries of Scandinavia for over 100 years. While they did not technically give up their sovereignty, the shared monarch held all the power. Even after the Kalmar Union fell apart, Denmark and Norway continued to be united for almost 300 years.
